Gwacheon hair salon for layered cut and scalp care: One & Only Hair

I was growing my hair out with the goal of having long, straight hair. The sections from a heavily layered cut I had before had grown out unevenly and started sticking out, so they needed tidying. I visited One & Only Hair Gwacheon Government Complex Station (원앤온리헤어 과천청사역점) for a cut suited to growing out my hair, along with scalp care.

The salon was more spacious than I expected. Although it is underground, the entire front has floor-to-ceiling windows, so it did not feel cramped or dark.

What was the cut price at the time of my visit?

There was a price list at the entrance, so I could check it before going in. At the time of my visit, a cut was around ₩30,000–₩35,000, and the notice said membership payments receive a 20% discount. Were the treatment seats quiet and spacious?

The space was divided into left and right sections around the counter, and the seats were generously spaced. Several stylists were working, but the seats were not packed closely together, which made the salon comfortable.

There were also plenty of waiting seats. I visited after work on a weekday, and customers with appointments continued to arrive.

Each treatment seat had a partition, so I could be treated without being too aware of the neighboring seats. During my visit, the overall atmosphere was quiet and calm.

How did I discuss growing out my hair?

I chose the Refresh Cut Course, which combines a cut with scalp scaling. Before the treatment, they checked my scalp with a diagnostic machine. There were signs of redness in several areas, and it felt warm, so we decided to start with scaling and a pack before the cut.

My hair is fine and not very thick, so too many layers can make it look sparse. This time, we decided on a layered cut with fewer layers and more overall weight.

How did the scalp scaling and pack treatment work?

First, they carefully applied the scalp scaling product in several places. I felt a refreshing cooling sensation as soon as it was applied.

After applying the product, they continued the scalp treatment using steam.

During the treatment, I could choose a drink from coffee, tea, or juice. They also said they would prepare toast, so I accepted it. I was a little surprised to be served toast at a hair salon.

I had come straight from work and was hungry, so I quickly ate the toast they prepared.

After the cooling scalp treatment and a snack, I started to feel pleasantly drowsy.

The space where I sat during the treatment was also roomy, so I could stay comfortably.

After being treated for quite a while, I moved to the shampoo room. The shampoo room was also divided by high partitions at each seat, which made it feel cozy.

They used Milbon Ojoua products for the shampoo, treatment, and other care.

After shampooing, they applied different treatment packs to my scalp and hair and left them on for a while.

Receiving the pack treatment while lying down was so comfortable that I felt I could fall asleep.

How did the lightly layered cut turn out?

They dried my hair about halfway, applied a hair-care product to the ends, and started cutting. They matched the overall length first, then added only a few layers at the back to retain weight. The front was trimmed to softly frame my face.

They checked the length carefully while keeping in mind that I was growing my hair out. Since I often tuck my hair behind my ears, I also asked for the short wispy pieces beside my face to remain. I liked how the lines of my bangs and side pieces connected naturally and looked neat.

This cut suited my hair well because it retained weight and tidied the area around my face instead of adding many layers. The Refresh Cut Course let me receive everything from scalp care through the cut in a calm setting.
