What is TATSU SUSAN in Hannam-dong?
TATSU SUSAN is an aged sashimi restaurant on the 2nd floor of a building in Hannam-dong, where you can enjoy seasonal seafood with a wide range of drinks in a classy setting. Today's precious meal: TATSU SUSAN, a Hannam-dong date spot!

TATSU SUSAN serves its own aged sashimi, made from seasonal seafood shipped directly from where it's caught and finished with specialized aging techniques. You can also order a variety of dishes, hot pots, steamed dishes, grilled dishes, meals and fried dishes, plus whisky, soju, beer, sake and regional liquors! If you're looking for a Hannam-dong date spot where you can have sashimi together with drinks, I don't think you can do much better.

What are the atmosphere and seating like at TATSU SUSAN?
From the exterior to the walk up to the 2nd-floor entrance to the interior, TATSU SUSAN feels upscale and modern. The simple design of the exterior already gives off a classy vibe, and inside, cozy lighting, spacious tables and group seating add to the clean, modern mood.
There's a big counter in the center, with window-facing tables around it, plus seats for 2, for 4, and even large groups. It's roomy enough that the space felt comfortable to use!
Watching the open kitchen from the counter seats
I booked through Naver and was shown to the counter. TATSU SUSAN has an open kitchen, so you can watch the sashimi being sliced and the sushi being made, which made me really happy with this seat.

What's on the TATSU SUSAN menu?
The menu has recommended dishes, single-item aged sashimi, dishes to go with drinks, and a wide range of alcohol. They say they handle seasonal seafood delivered every dawn from clean waters and prepare it the same day, so it's a place to enjoy fresh, good-quality sashimi properly.

From recommended dishes to single-item aged sashimi to all the dishes you can have with drinks, if you like seasonal sashimi and Japanese food there's no reason not to visit. The menu is varied and the drink selection is huge.

What comes in the small aged sashimi platter set?
We ordered the small aged sashimi platter set (모둠 숙성회 한상차림 소자), and a variety of seasonal sashimi came out beautifully arranged. The portion was generous, with several kinds of fish and even abalone. Looking back at the plating, it's still art,, ✨

From the color of the fish, as you'd expect from an aged sashimi specialist, to the variety, I'd recommend this platter to anyone who loves seasonal sashimi! White fish, mackerel sashimi and live abalone! There was not a hint of fishiness, and I could really enjoy the taste of the seafood itself.

Which side dishes come with the TATSU SUSAN platter?
The platter came with seasoned squid, kelp, gosiraegi (a crunchy seaweed), seasoned gungchae (stalk vegetable), jeon (pan-fried patties) and sea squirt. The sides were as varied as the sashimi, and every dish was full of savory depth, so whichever sashimi and side combination I tried, the balance was good and the flavors harmonious.

The braised dish that stood out
And the braised dish was especially good! It's not only the sashimi that changes with the season, the sides apparently differ each visit too, so it seems like a place worth coming back to several times.

How does TATSU SUSAN's aged sashimi taste?
The aged sashimi at TATSU SUSAN was really clean-tasting overall, with the natural flavor of the seafood coming through. Aged sashimi tastes and feels different depending on the aging method, and I think TATSU SUSAN's tasted even better because you could really get the fish's own flavor. And gosiraegi and kelp, which I normally don't even eat, why are they so good here.. From now on I have to eat gosiraegi or kelp with my sashimi 😋😋

The sashimi was so clean that we ended up ordering beer too. That's how good TATSU SUSAN's aged sashimi is! Even with the same fish, the texture differed noticeably by cut, which made the meal even richer.
Complimentary sushi on the house
And the sushi they gave us as a freebie! Sticky rice topped with fresh TATSU SUSAN aged sashimi is a combo that can't miss, and I liked it so much that next time I'd want to order sushi separately.
Is TATSU SUSAN a good Hannam-dong date spot?
From the classy interior to every dish, I was satisfied with TATSU SUSAN. If you're looking for a Hannam-dong date spot with fresh seasonal aged sashimi brought in daily, I recommend visiting. Another precious meal done at TATSU SUSAN in Yongsan today too! ❣️
