We visited before the after-work rush and got a relaxed outdoor seat, but once evening properly set in, the place filled up with people looking for a Magok patio spot. By the way, the indoor space also has folding doors wide open, so even if you're not outside, it still has plenty of that patio feel.

What we ordered that day was the Hanmaek 2-bottle set. (Soju was ordered separately.)

We wanted to pair the octopus with a drink, and conveniently there were several set menus, which made choosing easy. Having a menu that combines food and alcohol, like the Hanmaek 2-bottle set, was nicer than ordering everything separately since it felt more cost-effective. Eating octopus alongside cold Hanmaek beer, this combo really worked well together.

With webfoot octopus, the smoky char and spicy sauce really are the highlight.

The chewy octopus tossed well in sauce worked great both as a side with rice and as a drinking snack. Above all, eating it at an outdoor table gave a different vibe even though it's the same dish.

Personally, I like eating octopus in various combinations, and there were plenty of pairing options to enjoy alongside it.

With the evening breeze this cool, wrapping a bite of octopus and drinking a cold bottle of Hanmaek outdoors felt like it melted away some of the after-work stress.

Besides ordering à la carte, Jju Baksa has several set menus, giving a wide range of choices. You could go with the Hanmaek 2-bottle set like we did, or choose a set based on your group size or what you're craving.

The set includes flying fish roe rice balls and steamed egg, and considering these days' dining prices, ordering a set is clearly less of a burden than adding menu items one by one.

Especially if you're planning to drink, using the alcohol set menu was worthwhile for the value too. If you're not drinking, go for the drink set menu instead!

Is Jju Baksa a good dinner stop after a walk in Seoul Botanic Park?

Jju Baksa is close to Seoul Botanic Park, so it worked well as a route to plan when looking for dinner after touring the park.

It would be nice to pair a stroll through Seoul Botanic Park with dinner in the Magok area as a course.
