Why we stopped at Songjeong Dol Jjamppong on a Songjeong Beach night drive

My kids love Songjeong Beach's night sea so much that we sometimes drive out just to see it in the evening. We had errands at the outlet mall today and ended up in Songjeong again, so this place came to mind. Songjeong Dol Jjamppong, a favorite near Songjeong Beach in Busan — honestly, words aren't even necessary. It's the kind of jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) that stays on your mind after just one bite, served on a hot stone plate. The jajangmyeon (black bean noodles) is good too, but the jjamppong is the one you absolutely have to try 👍

What we ordered: dol jajangmyeon 24,000 won and dol jjamppong 26,000 won

I couldn't pick just one between dol jajangmyeon and dol jjamppong, so we got both — the kids had dol jajangmyeon, and we adults had dol jjamppong. Regular dol jajangmyeon medium is ₩24,000, and regular dol jjamppong medium is ₩26,000. We ordered both at spice level 1, the basic flavor.

This is exactly what a Songjeong Beach favorite in Busan should be. The food arrives piled on a huge stone plate, bubbling all the way to the edges even as you watch. The stone plate itself is so hot that it kept simmering long after it hit the table. You can see it bubbling right in the photos, can't you? A visual like this — you can't not take pictures. The jjamppong here isn't your typical brothy version; it's simmered right on the stone plate in a thick, concentrated broth, and that flavor is truly unforgettable. What's unique is that once you've eaten all the noodles, there's a layer of scorched rice stuck to the stone plate — scraping that up at the end is half the fun.

Piling on plenty of bean sprouts with the spicy jjamppong gives you a nice crunch, and with the seafood and noodles together, it really makes for a filling meal.

With a look totally different from jjamppong served in a regular bowl, Songjeong Dol Jjamppong is a real favorite near Songjeong Beach in Busan.

The self-serve green onion kimchi at Songjeong Dol Jjamppong

The green onion kimchi (pajeori) served alongside is a total standout. Piled onto the jajangmyeon or jjamppong, it's absolutely perfect. Made with thin green onions rather than thick ones, it's genuinely delicious, and I love that you can help yourself as much as you like from the self-serve corner.

There's a self-serve corner on one side of the restaurant, which is great. Onion, danmuji (pickled radish), spicy kimchi, and green onion kimchi were all available to take as much as needed. A spicy bite of jjamppong followed by a crunchy piece of danmuji clears your palate and keeps you reaching for more, and green onion kimchi is the perfect match for jajangmyeon 👍 Being able to help yourself to as many side dishes as you want was really convenient.

After 6 p.m.: the mood inside and the free bowl of rice

Overall, the tables are spacious with decent spacing between them, making for a clean but comfortable dining atmosphere. There were quite a few people eating when I visited, and after 6pm in the evening, families, friends, and couples all kept coming in. Notably, Songjeong Dol Jjamppong even gives out free rice. But honestly, the portions are so generous that even without ordering rice, you'll be completely full — a real strength of this Busan jjamppong.

Songjeong Dol Jjamppong has a nice touch with its country-of-origin labeling, which makes it even more appealing. On top of that, the walls are covered with funny phrases, witty lines, and jokes, so there's fun in just reading around the place.

A free ade for a receipt review, and tangsuyuk next time

There's a free ade drink if you do the receipt review event. There were two flavors, and I went with the green grape ade. It's always nice when you make sure to claim the little extras.

Between the dol jajangmyeon and jjamppong, we were so stuffed we couldn't manage a side dish this time!!!! But the side menu, especially the tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork), looked really tasty too. I even considered skipping the jjamppong and getting jajangmyeon with tangsuyuk instead, but I just couldn't give up the jjamppong…!!!! hahaha. If I come without the kids next time, it'll be jjamppong and tangsuyuk!!!! If you're looking for a great jjamppong spot in Songjeong or a restaurant for a family dinner, I highly recommend this place. A Songjeong Beach favorite in Busan that's great to visit with kids 👍
