Bangi-dong lamb rib BBQ you grill yourself: Dangsan Odol Bangi Branch

In short

Dangsan Odol Bangi Branch is a lamb rib and odol galbi (rib cartilage) restaurant in Bangi-dong, Songpa, Seoul. The meal was two servings of lamb ribs, one serving of scored pork skin (kkaljip kkeopdegi) at 15,000 won and mussel doenjang jjigae with rice, all grilled at the table, where timing changed the texture of the thick lamb ribs dramatically. The food satisfied, but Dangsan Odol Bangi Branch offers no grilling service and charges a mandatory 2,000 won valet fee.

They say a third of life is spent sharing good food with good people. 😊 Today I visited Dangsan Odol Bangi Branch, the branch of the restaurant famous for its Yeongdeungpo flagship location. It's near my house so I'd been curious for a while, and I'd heard so much about their lamb ribs that I finally went! I think it'd be a solid pick for anyone in Bangi-dong looking for a company dinner spot or a family meal out, so here's my honest review.

Parking and valet at Dangsan Odol Bangi Branch

Dangsan Odol Bangi Branch is easy to reach by car from Bangi Station, and I liked that it has parking for 8+ cars. One thing to note though: valet is mandatory even if you don't want it, and it costs ₩2,000.

How big are the group tables at this Bangi-dong BBQ restaurant?

I was surprised by how much bigger the inside of Dangsan Odol Bangi Branch was than I expected walking in. There are plenty of regular tables, but there's also a really large group section further inside.

Inner group seating space that fits 30+ people

It's a private space that easily fits 30+ people, so it seems like a good option for company dinners or group gatherings. If you're looking for a Bangi-dong BBQ restaurant that takes group bookings, this seems like a pretty good choice.

Side dishes come from a self-serve bar

The basic side dishes at Dangsan Odol Bangi Branch come out neat and simple, and if you want more, you can freely grab extras from the self-serve bar.

Onions, julienned radish, myeongi namul (wild mountain garlic leaves), lettuce wraps, garlic — you just take as much as you need without worrying about anyone watching. Personally, I found myeongi namul and julienned radish together paired really well with the lamb.

What we ordered at Dangsan Odol Bangi Branch

  • Lamb ribs (2 servings)
  • Scored odol galbi (1 serving)
  • Mussel doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew, includes rice)

Since we came for lamb ribs, ordering the main dish was a no-brainer.

Grilling timing is everything with thick lamb ribs

Lamb ribs at Dangsan Odol Bangi Branch can only be ordered starting at 2 servings, and the thickness of the first batch was already satisfying. They were much chunkier than I expected, and looked great.

Eating it, I realized that how you grill lamb ribs is 80% of the flavor. The first batch, grilled at the right timing, came out crispy outside and juicy inside — genuinely delicious. But the second batch, where we lost track of timing while chatting, turned noticeably drier. I've seen reviews calling it tough, but for me it felt more like a cut where grilling technique makes a huge difference. Grilled well, the thick texture really shines and the lamb's distinct aroma isn't overwhelming at all.

For reference, there's no grilling service, so you have to grill it yourself. Given the price point, this was a bit disappointing.

Scored pork skin, as seen on Wednesday Food Talk

The scored odol galbi is ₩15,000, which felt a bit pricey at first, but apparently they only use the best-graded cut of loin cartilage.

The thickness was genuinely different, and the chewiness was real. It had a much meatier texture than regular odol galbi, making it a great drinking snack too.

Finishing the meal with mussel doenjang jjigae

The mussel doenjang jjigae at Dangsan Odol Bangi Branch comes with a bowl of rice included. It had plenty of mussels and, with rice included, was a great way to wrap up the meal. The broth wasn't too salty and had a nice spicy kick — the perfect style after eating meat!

Also, as printed right on the sign, this place's signature dish is the mulberry-leaf tteolegi sujebi (hand-torn dough soup), and I noticed quite a few customers coming in just for a meal without meat, even in the evening. I'd like to come back sometime just for the sujebi alone.

Honest verdict on Dangsan Odol Bangi Branch

Dangsan Odol Bangi Branch had food quality that felt consistently above average across the board. The lamb ribs and scored odol galbi in particular were both very satisfying, and the spacious group seating and convenient parking were big pluses.

One thing I noticed while eating, though — there were plenty of staff, but they were clearly busy, so service and menu explanations felt a bit rushed. It wasn't unfriendly exactly, more that everyone was so occupied that the more attentive guidance was lacking.

Purely on taste, I'd come back! If you're looking for a lamb rib spot near Bangi Station or a company dinner venue in Bangi-dong, it's worth a visit.
