Now that the weather is finally warming up, it's the perfect time to eat outdoors! That's when I always think of Jju Baksa Magok Branch :)

Why Jju Baksa Magok Branch is worth more than ten visits

Lots of repeat visits usually means good food, right? I've been to Jju Baksa Magok Branch at least ten times — people of all ages come, and when the outdoor patio is open, I've even seen company dinners happening there!

I've stopped by a few times for lunch too — it's great when you're craving something hearty and spicy, so it's a solid pick if you're looking for lunch spots in Magok 🤓🤓 On nice days I especially love eating on the outdoor patio rather than indoors — octopus somehow tastes even better outside… haha. On these cool days, I really recommend grabbing an outdoor table!

Is Jju Baksa Magok Branch dog-friendly? A stop after Seoul Botanic Park

Jju Baksa Magok Branch is dog-friendly, so it's great for a meal after walking your dog around Seoul Botanic Park. We have a dog, so we always check whether a restaurant allows pets — and this was a real plus. If you're looking for restaurants near Seoul Botanic Park, or an octopus restaurant near Seoul Botanic Park, I really recommend this place!! (For reference, we called ahead to ask if dogs were allowed.)

Ordering is done through the tablet at the table, which made the first order simple and made it easy to add more food whenever we wanted mid-meal. Not having to keep flagging down a staff member was surprisingly nice!

What comes with the set menu: spaghetti, fried rice or cheese egg custard

Whenever I come to Jju Baksa Magok Branch, I almost always get the set menu. You can customize the set to your taste — adding spaghetti or fried rice, or choosing a side like cheese egg custard. Spicy octopus paired with soft egg custard is hard to go wrong with, haha.

How to add bean sprouts and stir-fry the octopus again

Once you've eaten some of the octopus, I recommend adding bean sprouts and stir-frying them in together! You start out with the rich, spicy flavor, and then adding bean sprouts halfway through brings a crunchy texture and a slightly fresher taste — a totally different vibe.

The basic side dishes that come with the meal go well with it too — there's flying fish roe and corn, so it's fun to mix and match with the octopus. On the day I went, an elderly couple at the next table seemed to really love the bean sprouts and kept refilling them, haha. Watching them, I thought, 'Yeah, bean sprouts really do make it better!'

The location near Yangcheon Hyanggyo Station is also convenient, so it's worth a visit if you're searching for octopus restaurants near Yangcheon Hyanggyo Station. It works well for lunch, and also pairs nicely with a light drink in the evening — the kind of place you end up visiting again and again.

Finishing with fried rice at an outdoor table

For reference, every other table besides ours seemed to be drinking! Haha. I especially love visiting on nice days with my dog and eating outdoors. Start with spicy octopus, stir in bean sprouts for round two, and finish with fried rice — it makes for a truly satisfying meal.
