What the Achasan Tong Galbitang dining room is like

Interior of Achasan Tong Galbitang
Interior with widely spaced tables

The moment I stepped inside, the aroma of a long-simmered, clear, deep broth filled the air and got my saliva glands going right away. The tables were spaced generously too, making it a great atmosphere for a comfortable meal with parents or a chatty catch-up with friends.

Basic side dishes and self-serve bar
Kkakdugi, onion, and pepper side dishes

The default side dishes were simple: kkakdugi (radish kimchi), onion, and peppers. Apparently the kkakdugi is made in-house! If you need more, you can easily grab extras from the self-serve bar, and each side dish seemed to be kept clean and well managed, which I liked.

How is the meat-packed aromsatae galbitang?

Meat-packed aromsatae galbitang

Meat-packed aromsatae galbitang, ₩19,000. My one pick that day was definitely the 'aromsatae galbitang'! Every time I've had regular galbitang elsewhere, the meat portion always felt lacking, so this time I tried the meat-packed aromsatae galbitang. The second it was served, I audibly gasped at the sight of it.

Generously served aromsatae galbitang

It's called meat-packed aromsatae galbitang, so I wondered just how much meat that meant — turns out it came with two big rib bones plus a generous heap of aromsatae (beef shank) meat. The visuals were incredible. I took a sip of the broth first, and it was deep and clean without a hint of gamy smell.

Deep, clean galbitang broth

The rib meat was so tender that just a light touch with the tongs separated it from the bone, no effort needed to tear it off. Even being meat on the bone, it wasn't tough at all — soft and delicious.

Aromsatae dipped in sauce

I also dipped the aromsatae meat in the sauce. The meat was glossy and chewy in the best way — Achasan Station restaurant approved. Even after eating through about half the meat, there was miraculously still more left, and since the rice was smartly unlimited, I grabbed another bowl to go with the remaining meat.

Meal with rice and galbitang

Meal complete, plate clean. I got a proper energy boost from the deep, hot broth loaded with protein — a hearty meal. Best galbitang spot near Achasan Station! So good!

Free 17-grain misugaru to finish the meal

17-grain misugaru dessert

After a hearty, hot-broth meal, they also had 17-grain misugaru so you could cool off with something refreshing.

Misugaru served in a paper cup

I filled a paper cup and took a sip — it washed away all the oiliness left in my mouth from the meat, completing the perfect sweet-and-savory finish.

Is Achasan Tong Galbitang worth a visit?

Generous meat portions, unlimited rice, and a sweet dessert misugaru — the service trifecta here was perfect. If you're looking for a hearty, restorative soup dish or a filling meal, give Achasan Tong Galbitang a try — I left truly satisfied!
