Guui-dong Chinese restaurant, ₩9,000 ganjjajang lunch: Hyeongjeae Guui
In short
Hyeongjeae Guui is a Chinese restaurant with private-room seating on Achasan-ro near Guui Station in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul. Two people ordered ganjjajang (black bean noodles, ₩9,000), Berkshire K fried rice (₩10,000), Berkshire K Cantonese-style sweet and sour pork (₩22,000) and black pork eggplant mandu (dumplings, 2 pieces, ₩6,000) for ₩47,000 in total, and the ganjjajang noodles were springy while the spicy, tangy jjamppong broth served with the fried rice stood out most. Hyeongjeae Guui is good value at lunch, and some rooms seat groups of 6–8, so it also works for a team dinner.

I was looking for a clean, solid Chinese restaurant near Guui Station and ended up at a place called Hyeongjeae. I tried several dishes on this visit — from ganjjajang (black bean noodles) to fried rice, sweet and sour pork, and eggplant mandu — and overall it was really satisfying, so today I'm sharing what I ate and my honest thoughts~

We ordered ganjjajang + Berkshire K fried rice + Berkshire K Cantonese-style sweet and sour pork + black pork eggplant mandu that day, coming to ₩47,000 total.

Pairing something here with a drink would make it a great meal plus a light drink at the same time. We drove that day so we skipped the alcohol, but I was personally really curious about the gaoliang (Chinese liquor) highball. Next time I want to visit without a car and try the gaoliang highball too.
What each dish tasted like at Hyeongjeae Guui

🍜 Ganjjajang (black bean noodles), ₩9,000
Ganjjajang was my husband's top pick. The noodles were springy and the black bean sauce had good depth of flavor, so it was solid from the start. My husband often orders Chinese food for lunch at work, and he said a regular jjajangmyeon usually runs around ₩9,000 while ganjjajang is often around ₩11,000.

So I liked that Hyeongjeae's ganjjajang is ₩9,000, a good price for lunch. It's a dish that nails both taste and value, so I'd especially recommend it to anyone searching for a Guui-dong lunch spot.
🍚 Berkshire K fried rice, ₩10,000
I'm firmly a jjajangmyeon person, so honestly I'd never paid for fried rice with my own money before. But this fried rice was totally unexpected. In one word — this thing is a real one! 😎 Fluffy rice with the savory flavor of egg really coming through!

The fried rice itself was tasty, but the jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) broth served alongside was really impressive. It was spicy and tangy, and it paired really well with the fried rice. I personally felt like this broth just needed noodles added to be perfect, so next time I definitely want to try the jjamppong too 🤤
🥩 Berkshire K Cantonese-style sweet and sour pork, ₩22,000
This is Cantonese-style sweet and sour pork made with Berkshire K pork, and visually it's closer to gwabajirou (crispy sweet and sour pork strips) than a typical tangsuyuk. The sauce had a reddish tint but wasn't spicy at all. Instead it had a ketchup-based sweet and tangy flavor, a bit milder than typical sweet and sour pork sauce, so it wasn't overwhelming.

Like gwabajirou, you cut it with scissors, and pairing it with a bit of the wasabi served alongside was a pretty great combo. The wasabi had a sharp kick, so at first I added just a tiny bit at a time, but it cut through the richness of the pork and cleaned up the palate nicely. Personally, it tasted better with a touch of wasabi than eating it plain 🙆🏻♀️💚

🍆 Black pork eggplant mandu, 2 pieces for ₩6,000
The eggplant mandu (dumplings) came straight out of the fryer, so the staff told us it was hot and to let it sit a bit before eating. We waited a few minutes, and even then it was still crispy 🌟. The outside was crunchy and the eggplant was packed with a hearty pork filling — the combination worked really well, and at ₩6,000 for 2 pieces it was a good side to share alongside the other dishes.
🍸 A Guui Station Chinese restaurant that suits drinks too

One of Hyeongjeae's strengths is that the vibe is perfect for enjoying food and drinks together in a 💎clean, refined💎 setting. We drove so we didn't order alcohol, but eating through the menu made me think gaoliang or a highball would pair really well~~ So it seemed like a good spot not just for lunch, but also for a light meal and a drink after work 🍺

🚗 Where to park at Hyeongjeae Guui
Parking is worth checking before you visit. We first headed to the lot the restaurant recommended, but it was full, so we parked at the Gwangjin-gu Office public parking lot instead. The Gwangjin-gu Office lot is fairly new and quite large, so there was no trouble parking even on the weekend haha!
👥 Group rooms for a party of 6–8
Hyeongjeae Guui is divided into separate rooms, which gave a private first impression. I assumed each room only had 4-person tables, but it turns out some rooms have group seating too.

So it looks great for office workers nearby coming in for lunch, and also works well as a small after-work group meal for 6–8 people~ Especially with a larger group, you can share a range of dishes — from jjajang and jjamppong to sweet and sour pork and other signature items, which seems like a real plus. If you're searching for Chinese food near Guui Station, this is a place I'd recommend to anyone looking it up.

Also, if you're staying at the Pullman hotel nearby or visiting the nearby mall, it looks like a solid choice for a meal and a date at the same time ❣️
Next lunch at Hyeongjeae Guui: jjajang, jjamppong and sweet and sour pork

Hyeongjeae Guui has an open kitchen and I got the sense the ingredients were fresh and clean. I got too full today to try the other signature dishes, but I'm curious about them~~ Especially the jjamppong and sweet and sour pork I didn't get to try this time — I wonder how good they are! On my next lunch visit I plan to order the ganjjajang + jjamppong + sweet and sour pork combo. I'd recommend this place to anyone near Guui Station looking for a clean Chinese meal or something new to try ❤️
