Sashimi omakase for two near Beomgye Station: Namhae Mulgogi Anyang

In short

Namhae Mulgogi Anyang is an aged-sashimi restaurant on the 4th floor of Jungang Plaza, in front of the central fountain at Beomgye Station in Anyang, Gyeonggi. The writer and her husband ordered the sashimi omakase set for two, which brought pre-meal porridge and mulhoe (cold raw fish soup), aged salmon, flounder, hairtail, amberjack and mullet, futomaki and sushi, clams steamed in rice wine, yurinki (fried chicken in citrus sauce) and grilled mackerel, then a spicy fish stew to close. Thickly cut aged sashimi plus the warm dishes made the Namhae Mulgogi spread work as both a drinking table and a full dinner.

My husband and I went to Namhae Mulgogi near Beomgye Station for aged sashimi omakase. In summer especially, you tend to think twice about freshness and hygiene when eating raw fish, so it was reassuring that Namhae Mulgogi sources directly from the producing region and selects fresh fish and vegetables every morning. Reservations are easy through Naver too, so I'd recommend booking ahead ✨

Where is Namhae Mulgogi Anyang, and where do you park?

Namhae Mulgogi is on the 4th floor of the Jungang Plaza building, right in front of the central fountain. It's in the same building as a Paik's Coffee, so it wasn't hard to find, and since it's across from an Olive Young, even people unfamiliar with the area should find it easily. The building is visible right from the fountain, so it also works well as a meeting spot.

Parking is available too, so driving there is fine. Use the mechanical parking garage in the Paik's Coffee building behind the restaurant, across from Kookmin Bank. You get 2 hours free, and after that it's an extra ₩1,000 per hour. But since it's a mechanical system, large SUVs, EVs, and vehicles over 2 tons can't get in — worth keeping in mind beforehand..!

Inside Namhae Mulgogi: room and seating

The inside of Namhae Mulgogi isn't huge, but overall the interior felt clean and tidy. I liked that the tables ranged from 4-seaters to 8-seaters — good for a quiet meal for two, but it'd also suit a group gathering or a work dinner. It also seemed like a good spot for a quiet drink away from the busy streets of Beomgye..!

Menu: omakase sets, lunch specials and drinks

They serve seasonal aged sashimi brought in daily from the producing region, plus handmade dishes, and among these the sashimi omakase set looked like solid value for the price, so my husband and I ordered it this time. Since it comes with aged sashimi plus a variety of dishes, you get to enjoy a good range 🤍

There's also a lunch special available from 11:30am to 3pm, with options like a sushi set, mulhoe set, sushi, and hoedeopbap (raw fish rice bowl). With such a varied menu, it seemed like a good spot for nearby office workers to grab lunch too.

The drink selection was quite extensive too — Japanese sake, whiskey, Japanese shochu, distilled spirits, highballs, plum liqueur, bokbunja (Korean black raspberry wine) and more. They even had non-alcoholic beer, which seemed nice for enjoying the atmosphere with sashimi on days you're not drinking.

What comes with the sashimi omakase set for two

Warm pre-meal porridge and mulhoe (cold raw fish soup) as an appetizer came out first. The warm porridge settled my stomach, and the tangy, refreshing mulhoe woke up my appetite!

It was made up of various kinds of aged sashimi — salmon, flounder, hairtail, amberjack, mullet, and more. Rather than just one type of fish, you get to taste small portions of several, with one piece of each per person.

And then futomaki and sushi too! Honestly, this alone was already a huge amount of food.

How the thickly cut aged sashimi tastes

The sashimi itself was sliced really thick, so the chewing texture was great — just one piece filled your mouth completely ✨

There was no fishy taste or off smell at all, and being aged sashimi, it had a chewy texture with extra umami on top — really delicious. It definitely felt different from the live-fish sashimi I usually eat; since the slices were so thick, the chewiness of the aged fish came through even more. Personally, my favorite combination was dipping it lightly in the house-made soy sauce with a bit of wasabi!

Yurinki and grilled mackerel and other warm dishes

But that wasn't all! Clam wine steam, yurinki (crispy fried chicken with tangy sauce), and grilled mackerel also came out as warm dishes to pair with the aged sashimi. Everything was good, but personally I thought the clam wine steam would go great with drinks, and the grilled mackerel was so moist and tender that I found myself wanting rice with it haha. With warm dishes served alongside the sashimi, it worked perfectly as both a drinking spread and a full meal!

The spicy fish stew that ends the meal

And to finish, a spicy, kick-packed fish stew came out too hahaha. It was nice to wrap things up on a refreshing note with the stew, and the amount of ingredients inside was actually pretty generous — much more substantial than I expected.

Worth knowing before you visit Namhae Mulgogi Anyang

You can get free salted gimbap for writing a Naver review, and a free Suntory highball if you visit before 5pm or after 8pm, so if you're planning a visit, it's worth downloading the Naver coupon in advance! It's also a Beomgye sashimi restaurant that accepts Gyeonggi regional currency and Onnuri gift certificates, which made it even more reasonable to use. With everything from aged sashimi to a full spread of dishes, and good for pairing with a drink, this is a place worth visiting at least once.
