Gangnam bar for late-night squid and a retro snack shop: 88 Nogari

On the second floor inside Seolleung Station’s food alley

It is tucked inside the Seolleung Station food alley, so it is super easy to find. It is on the second floor, and even the sign at the entrance has legendary retro vibes.

Open daily from 5 p.m. until 2 a.m., this is a great Seolleung Station bar for drinking late! Just note in advance that last orders are at 1 a.m.

A packed, buzzing pocha atmosphere

We dropped by 88 Nogari (88노가리) Seolleung Main Branch for a second round. The spacious interior was already packed with people—completely full! It had that perfectly bustling, noisy, exciting pocha (Korean drinking-tent bar) atmosphere.

Looking around, there were seriously so many group tables of office workers stopping in after work! I immediately understood why it is popular for group company dinners near Seolleung.

A varied menu, from light snacks to soupy dishes

88 Nogari Seolleung Main Branch has everything from light snacks to fried foods, cooked dishes, and soupy options. We came for a second round, but I thought it would be good for a first round too. Snack prices start below ₩10,000, making it a reasonably priced Seolleung Station bar.

The complimentary snack was chicken-leg crackers!! They refill them twice too ><

They were tasty enough to drink two draft beers with just these crackers. I wondered how much they would cost if I wanted more~

At 88 Nogari Seolleung Main Branch, it goes without saying that ordering a main snack is required. For tables of five or more, keep in mind that you need to order two snacks!

A retro snack-shop corner where you can pick cup noodles

The fun point here is the snack-shop corner set up on one side of the venue. Cup noodles and snacks are displayed as if an old neighborhood store had been moved right in. As we drank, I started craving a little spicy broth, so I grabbed a yukgaejang (spicy beef soup) cup noodle. Hot water is ready at the snack shop too! (In an electric kettle.)

Squid and rolled omelet order

We ordered squid and rolled omelet, the ultimate beer snacks.

The squid was ₩16,000. We got three whole squid in total.

The peanuts and sauce are refillable! The Cheongyang chili peppers were so fresh, and the mayonnaise-to-soy-sauce ratio was spot-on. They give you more mayonnaise than other places, which was totally my taste!

We cut the squid into easy-to-eat pieces with scissors, then gave it a good dunk in the house sauce. It was a soy-mayo sauce loaded with sharp Cheongyang chili peppers—salty and ridiculously spicy.

After cutting it into bite-size pieces, it was not tough at all—just tender and moist—so the drinks went down way too easily!

Next came the rolled omelet, piled generously with sauce, and it passed the visual test right away. Thick and fluffy, it was the ideal thing to pick at with drinks 😋 The shredded cabbage on top was the kick.

Receipt review event and final thoughts

There was also a receipt-review event sign on the table. Write a Naver review and you get pineapple sherbet or two snack-shop treats, so make sure to claim it if you visit!
