What were the seating and ordering like for a solo meal in Sinchon?

After finishing my trip to Jeju and arriving at Gimpo Airport, I was looking for somewhere to eat alone around Sinchon and Ewha Womans University, so I stopped by Sunhui Dining (순희다이닝). It was on the second floor of a building on Ewha Yeodae-gil, and I walked over from Ewha Womans University Station.

It was quiet in the morning before lunch, but it soon became busy. There were lots of seating options, including window seats, two-person tables, and group tables, and each table had a kiosk, so it was easy to order on my own.

What were the atmosphere and self-service options like?

Sunlight coming through the windows, understated decorations, and the lighting came together to make for a calm meal. Jang-guk (clear soup), salad, baek kimchi (white kimchi), and dressing were available at the self-service station, and I could help myself to more rice and sauce if I ran short.

The staff guided me kindly from the moment I entered, and they remained consistently friendly even during busy times. The restroom was clean, with hand wash and toilet cleaner provided, while the self-service station also had candies and hair ties.

What are the three rice bowls made up of?

The menu consisted of three deopbap (rice bowls): spicy butadon (Japanese-style pork rice bowl), stir-fried pork butadon, and a heaping galbi rice bowl. I ordered all three, then packed some up to take home for my family.

Each bowl had slightly different toppings, including kkwarigochu peppers, garlic flakes, egg yolk, and stir-fried kimchi, along with meat, onions, and scallions.

How spicy was the spicy butadon?

I first tried the meat seasoned with the house sauce and direct-flame smoky flavor, then had it with wasabi. The spicy butadon was less spicy than I expected—mild enough, I felt, even for someone who is not good with spicy food. The garlic flakes and kkwarigochu pepper toppings went especially well with it.
