What is Allegro like?

Allegro is a pasta restaurant in Bangi-dong, Jamsil area, where you can enjoy live jazz along with your meal. This felt like a Seoul date we hadn't had in ages! My husband and I wanted to set a proper mood together for the first time in forever and enjoy a trip into Seoul too. It's not just about eating good food, you get good jazz at the same time, and we had a really happy time at Allegro.

Allegro sells a wide range of drinks, from wine and whisky to draft beer, so it's a perfect place to pick whatever suits your taste.

When and how are the jazz performances held at Allegro?

Allegro updates its performance schedule every month, so you can check it in advance. The day we visited, we got to enjoy a quartet band.

What time should you book Allegro, and which seats are best?

Allegro is such a popular Jamsil-area restaurant that I'd recommend booking ahead on Catch Table. I took photos of the hall seats first, and in a season like now, neither cold nor hot, the hall seats seem nice too. The only drawback is that you can't watch the jazz right in front of you.

So I booked a table seat without a second thought! On weekends the first set starts at 7:30pm, and if you want to arrive at a relaxed pace, booking around 7pm seems better.

And thoughtfully, the table seats are set up as bench-style rows so you can watch the performance head-on. Thanks to that, we had a sweet, cozy time at Allegro.

How to order at Allegro, and a tip for getting food slowly

At Allegro you order with the tablet placed at each seat. A tip from another table: if you want to eat slowly, just ask them to bring the next dish at a certain time, like "please send out the next dish around this time~".

What we ordered at Allegro, and the prices

We were hungry so we just ordered everything at once, haha. We picked only Allegro's best-selling dishes.

For drinks, I ordered a glass of red wine for myself and a draft beer for my husband. Both the beer and the wine were delicious!

If you want to go bigger, some tables were bringing their own wine with corkage or ordering a whole bottle.

Right before the performance started, our food came out and filled the table one dish after another. The tables at Allegro aren't very big, so if you plan to order a lot, it's a good idea to ask them to serve it in courses.

How does Allegro's mushroom cream potato gnocchi taste?

Allegro's mushroom cream potato gnocchi (₩24,000) is packed with that distinctive mushroom flavor, and it's honestly one of my top picks to recommend to anyone. Along with the potato salad that looked delicious at first glance, there was the gnocchi I'd been craving lately!

How can gnocchi be this soft,,! No wonder it's called a best-seller. Besides the gnocchi there were other pastas like carbonara and vongole, and I definitely felt this is a really good place for a date.

Prosciutto potato salad, a great appetizer

We ordered Allegro's prosciutto potato salad (₩18,000) as an appetizer. The baby potatoes were cooked through until tender, the seasoning on top and the tangy sauce went perfectly together, and with the prosciutto on top, it was a rich, truly upscale potato dish.

Is Allegro's sous vide pork neck steak worth ordering if you love meat?

Allegro's main dish, the sous vide pork neck steak (₩33,000), is a no-brainer if you like meat! Many people order the polpo (octopus) as a main too, but the pork neck steak was more generous in portion than I expected and really delicious.

Even though it isn't beef, I think Allegro is where I first learned pork neck could be enjoyed this well as a steak.

Maybe because it's sous vide, it was really juicy, and when I put it in my mouth and chewed, wow,,, I want to shout, "Make sure everyone has tried this!"

What was the jazz performance atmosphere like at Allegro?

The mood was great, and once the jazz performance properly began, we could enjoy delicious food and happy music together at Allegro. To protect the performers' portrait rights, I recorded the video mostly for the sound, haha. Just from the sound, I think you'll get a sense of how good the atmosphere is and want to go to Allegro.

Allegro in Bangi-dong, Jamsil made me think I should visit regularly now and then as an unusual date.
