Yongin Korean restaurant for pork charcoal grill sotbap: Sotbap Hansang

In short

Sotbap Hansang is a Korean restaurant in Idong-eup, Cheoin-gu, Yongin, where I had a weekday lunch of pork charcoal-grilled meat with a stone-pot rice set meal while dining with my baby. The restaurant felt a little dated but was clean, with baby seating, baby utensils, a large parking lot, and garden-view seats; the variety of side dishes made the family meal satisfying.

On a weekday lunch, I visited Sotbap Hansang (솥밥한상) in Idong-eup, Cheoin-gu, Yongin, with my baby. We ordered the pork charcoal-grilled sotbap set meal and added a mung bean pancake. I was satisfied that there were more kinds of food than expected that my baby could eat with us.

What were the parking and dining areas like?

The first thing I liked after arriving was the large parking lot. There was also a garden-like area around the restaurant.

The restaurant felt a little dated, but it did not seem worn-out or dirty. The interior was kept clean, and the atmosphere felt welcoming.

There were also seats farther inside with large windows overlooking the garden. Seeing the greenery while eating felt relaxing.

Are baby chairs and a self-service bar available?

A baby chair was available, so we could sit and eat with our baby.

At the self-service bar, we could bring the side dishes and food we needed ourselves.

Seaweed soup and pumpkin porridge were also available at the self-service bar. Baby utensils were prepared too, and our baby ate the pumpkin porridge we brought over.

How was the pork charcoal-grilled sotbap set meal?

I heard that braised beef short ribs and assorted seafood marinated in soy sauce were popular, but that day I chose the pork charcoal-grilled sotbap set meal.

Fresh lettuce wraps also came with the charcoal-grilled meat. It was tasty to wrap the meat in the leaves.

The rice came in a stone pot. The grains were warm and fluffy, and went well with the side dishes.

What food did my baby eat with us?

The set meal included grilled flounder, so I removed the flesh and fed it to my baby with rice. I also gave our baby some of the japchae (stir-fried glass noodles), which they like, and they ate it well.

There were several foods we could share with our baby, from pumpkin porridge and grilled flounder to japchae and rice. When eating out with a baby, I first look at what food they can eat, so it was nice to have choices that day.

How were the side dishes and added mung bean pancake?

There was a good variety of side dishes, and they were all neatly prepared. They were not too strongly seasoned for my taste, so they went well with the main dish.

I was curious after looking at the menu, so I added a mung bean pancake. It arrived warm, with a nutty flavor and a pleasantly crisp texture.

The mung bean pancake went well alongside the main dish. With the large parking lot, garden-view seats, and neatly prepared food, it felt like a reasonable place for a family meal.

Is there somewhere to have coffee after the meal?

A café was connected to the restaurant next door. I was told that an Americano was ₩1,000 at the time of my visit. I thought it would be convenient to have coffee right next to the restaurant after eating.

This family meal was satisfying because there was food my baby could eat and the utensils we needed. If I visit again, I would like to try the braised beef short ribs or assorted seafood marinated in soy sauce, which we did not order this time.
