Ppallaepan Pocha is famous for oyster bossam, live whole octopus, and deep-sea whelk dishes, and they put real effort into sourcing only fresh ingredients to deliver the best flavor. Octopus bossam that captures the deep taste of the sea, along with deep-sea whelk, are the signature menu items here, and once you try them you won't forget the experience. The combo of springy octopus and soft bossam, plus the chewy texture of the deep-sea whelk — you can't get this delicacy anywhere else.🤍

There's a sign at the entrance saying no solo entry, so it seems drinking alone isn't allowed here 🙊🥺
Inside Ppallaepan: the 1.5-room layout and its private inner tables

The interior of Ppallaepan Pocha is a 1.5-room layout. There's also a table further inside, so you can enjoy a more private setting. The vibe is a clean Korean-pocha interior that feels like a local bar favorite. It really gives off the feeling that they'd serve super fresh seafood here haha.

The lineup is incredibly varied with fresh seafood dishes, and the menus featuring octopus and deep-sea whelk seemed especially popular.

Octopus, whelk, seaweed, let's go. The health benefits are insane hahaha. A snack you can trust 🤍
The banchan: stir-fried kimchi, beondegi (silkworm pupae) and steamed cabbage

Once you're seated, they bring out the base banchan first, and I was surprised at how solid and generous it was — stir-fried kimchi, beondegi (silkworm pupae), salad, steamed cabbage and steamed wrapping cabbage, and kelp. This alone was a treat.

We ordered the live octopus seaweed bossam. They also set up more side dishes to go with it: minced chili, garlic, ssamjang, salted shrimp, seaweed, chojang, chili-garlic soy sauce, and ssamjang.

Live octopus seaweed bossam: a whole octopus, head included
Live whole octopus seaweed bossam..! The visuals and portion are overwhelming. They serve a whole octopus, and the two cuts of tender boiled pork were genuinely soft and generous — very satisfying.
The staff personally cut it into easy-to-eat pieces. Boiled pork bossam is common, but pairing it with a whole octopus like this isn't something you see often, so it felt really fresh.

Beyond the main ingredients, they also gave a generous serving of wrapping vegetables, and the combination of side dishes with the tangy seaweed was amazing.

The octopus head was served separately. People who love this part really dig in, but I guess I'm still a beginner hahaha.

Octopus legs and boiled pork, so cute 🤍🐙 Can you imagine the combo of chewy, springy octopus with soft boiled pork?

You have to wrap it up properly in a lettuce leaf too. 👍👍🫢

Why Ppallaepan works as a second-round drinking spot near Suyeong Station
There were so many types of seaweed, and pairing it with the seafood or meat maximized the flavor even more — my hand kept reaching for more. It was the best drinking snack!! This is a bar I really want to recommend for a second round, so I hope everyone gets to visit 🙊🥺 With fresh octopus, seaweed bossam, and such generous portions, Ppallaepan Pocha is a place you won't regret visiting.🤍
