Bongcheon Korean restaurant, kodari with egg custard: Sangdo Neulbori
In short
Sangdo Neulbori Bongcheon Station Branch is a Korean restaurant serving kodari jjim (braised half-dried pollock) on Bongcheon-ro in Gwanak, Seoul. The writer came just before the lunch rush with her mom and ordered the small kodari jjim at 26,000 won, which arrived after seaweed soup, a hot-pot egg custard and side dishes of seaweed and bean sprouts, and was generous even in the small size. With a self-serve barley bibimbap corner as well, Sangdo Neulbori is an easy pick for a filling meal with parents.

Today's story is about lunch with my mom at Sangdo Neulbori Bongcheon Station Branch (상도늘보리 봉천역점), a kodari (braised pollock) restaurant near Bongcheon Station 🐟💛

My mom comes here every now and then, and this time I tagged along haha. We got there a bit earlier than lunchtime, so it was quiet with barely anyone there at first, which I loved!

Inside Sangdo Neulbori: wood tones and well-spaced tables
The inside of Sangdo Neulbori Bongcheon Station Branch was bigger than I expected, with quite a lot of tables. The overall wood-tone look made it feel cozy, and the tables weren't packed too close together, so my mom and I could sit comfortably :)
It was quiet at first, but as lunchtime got closer, office workers started trickling in one by one 👀 Makes sense — it's a Korean food spot, so it's great for a lunch break nearby!

Ordering the small kodari jjim for 26,000 won, with the menu on the wall
When we sat down and looked for a menu, there wasn't a separate booklet — you order by looking at the big menu board hanging on the wall 👀 We ordered the kodari jjim (braised pollock stew), small size, for ₩26,000!

After ordering, I grabbed an apron too haha. They're hung on one side of the restaurant, so you just take one yourself if you need it 👕

Seaweed soup and hot-pot egg custard come with every order
Before the kodari arrived, the side dishes, seaweed soup, and egg custard came out first. Seaweed, bean sprouts, and other namul (seasoned vegetables) were good to pair with the kodari, and we nibbled on them while waiting for the main dish 🥢
I especially liked the seaweed soup more than I expected! 💚 It wasn't a watery style — it was rich and savory, right up my alley haha. Eating it warm made my stomach feel comfortable.
The egg custard also came out fluffy in a hot pot, soft and warm, so it was great to scoop spoonfuls of it while waiting for the kodari 🥚✨ It wasn't too salty either, so it was easy to eat without feeling heavy!

How big is the small kodari jjim, and how does it taste?
And finally, the kodari jjim arrived 🐟💛 Since we ordered the small size, I didn't expect a huge portion, but as soon as it came out it looked surprisingly generous — I thought, "Oh? That's a lot for a small size!" haha

The kodari flesh was thick and tender, and the sauce was well soaked in, making it perfect for lunch 🤤

The sauce had a spicy-sweet style, but it wasn't overly spicy or only sweet, so I kept going back for more haha. Dipping the rice in the sauce a bit was also delicious!

Eating the pollock with bean sprouts and wrapped in seaweed
I mixed the bean sprouts that came with it into the kodari sauce, and the crunchy texture made it even tastier. My mom wrapped kodari and bean sprouts together in seaweed, and that combo worked really well too 🐟✨ We each ate it our own favorite way haha

The self-serve barley bibimbap corner at Sangdo Neulbori
There's also a separate self-serve barley bibimbap corner on one side of the restaurant 🥬🍚 You can take as much as you want and mix it yourself! I was already too full from the kodari jjim and rice, so I couldn't try the barley bibimbap this time ㅜㅜ a bit of a shame. Next time, if I have some room left, I'd like to try it :)

The wifi password and the restroom password (the restroom is outside) were both posted in big letters inside the restaurant, so I didn't need to ask staff — very convenient!

Why Sangdo Neulbori works for a meal with parents
My mom said she comes here sometimes, and after trying it myself, I get why haha. The portion was generous, and coming with side dishes, soup, and egg custard all together made it a solid meal to enjoy with parents 💛
It's close to Bongcheon Station so it's easy to find, and the spread — from the main dish to the basic side dishes — feels quite substantial, so it'll come to mind whenever I'm having a family meal or looking for a filling lunch :) We had kodari jjim this time, so next time I should come back with my mom to try the baby octopus too ㅎ 🐙✨
If you're near Bongcheon Station looking for a hearty Korean meal or a good kodari restaurant near Bongcheon Station, Sangdo Neulbori Bongcheon Station Branch is worth a visit :)
