Today I visited Omil Hongdae (오밀 홍대), a place in Hongdae where you can enjoy an adorable-looking meal and still leave full off pasta and omurice!! 🐤🍝💕
What kind of restaurant is Omil Hongdae?
I saw the omurice topped with a rubber duck on social media and thought, I have to try this haha. In person it's even cuter than the photos... And since most menu items are around ₩10,000-19,000, it's a good-value meal for Hongdae, plus the bright, clean vibe makes it perfect for dates or brunch haha.
For waiting, you use the CatchTable pad on the 1st floor — there are waiting seats too!

Inside the second-floor dining room and table spacing
The restaurant is on the 2nd floor, and as soon as you walk up you're greeted by bright wood-tone interiors with sunlight streaming through the big windows, giving the whole place a warm feeling! The tables are spaced pretty generously too, so it's great for eating with friends, and also works well for dates or blind dates haha. Especially in the daytime, the natural light coming in makes it perfect for taking photos while having Hongdae brunch!!

Ordering this way with three people was perfect — each of us had our own omurice while sharing the pasta! These days a lot of Western restaurants in Hongdae charge close to ₩20,000 per dish, but with most mains here in the ₩10,000-19,000 range, it turned out to be better value than I expected!!
Rubber Duck Omurice, 16,900 won: salmon fried rice inside
🐤 Rubber Duck Omurice — the one I'd been looking forward to finally arrived!! Isn't it just too cute haha, a rubber duck on full vacation mode sitting right on top of the fluffy swirled egg!! As soon as the food came out I spent a while taking photos before even eating haha. Inside the Rubber Duck Omurice isn't just plain fried rice — it's salmon fried rice! Eating the soft egg together with the savory salmon fried rice was way more filling and delicious than I expected haha.
How is the Daily Omurice, 15,900 won, different?
The Daily Omurice we also ordered is a simpler version without the duck! It's the same swirled egg base with salmon fried rice inside, so if you just want the omurice itself without the cute visual, ordering the Daily version should be plenty satisfying. The egg wraps softly around the rice, so a big bite is completely filling!!
Spicy Pollack Roe Oil Pasta, 18,900 won: how it tastes
🍝 Spicy Pollack Roe Oil Pasta — since eating only omurice felt a bit light, we also ordered this. I really love pollack roe haha, the name alone was irresistible... It's an oil pasta with a pollack roe base, savory and salty with a big hit of umami, plus a spicy kick that kept it from feeling greasy despite being an oil pasta! For anyone looking for Hongdae pasta who prefers oil pasta over cream or tomato, I'd recommend this one haha. Also, aren't the bowls just so cute... the little slogans and characters matched the food perfectly haha.
