Picking up takeout at Focaccia Cucina in Seocho

I tried takeout from Focaccia Cucina on Banpo-daero 21-gil in Seocho-gu, Seoul. Eating in is nice, but there's also something fun about packing up a great menu item and enjoying it comfortably at home or the office. Focaccia Cucina, true to its name, serves menus built around Italian-style bread, so it seemed like a good option when you want something simple but still filling.

This time I visited the store in person and placed a takeout order. The ordering process was simple, and the packed menu items were prepared neatly, so the wait didn't feel like a burden. It seemed like they took care to keep the taste well-maintained even after packaging, not far off from eating fresh at the store.

What I ordered: Pollo sandwich 9,000 won and Margherita 6,000 won

The sandwich menus I ordered were the Pollo sandwich at ₩9,000 and the Margherita at ₩6,000.

They also sell extra virgin olive oil, and since the sandwich bread itself is delicious, dipping it in extra virgin olive oil with balsamic vinegar is pure bliss haha.

Focaccia Cucina has a range of menus made with different ingredient combinations that give off Italian vibes, so it's a fun place to pick and choose depending on your taste.

Pollo sandwich: light chicken breast and arugula

The Pollo sandwich, priced at ₩9,000, is put together so you can really taste the flavor of the ingredients themselves. The soft flavor of olive oil, used for grilling rather than frying, blends with the chicken breast for a clean taste.

This menu seemed like a good fit for people who prefer the natural aroma of ingredients with strong Italian character over heavily seasoned sauces.

The chewy yet light texture unique to focaccia, combined with the aroma of arugula, made it easy to eat without feeling heavy. Since the bread's own flavor matters a lot in this menu, it stayed moist and nutty enough to enjoy plain without getting boring.

Margherita: mozzarella, basil and tomato sauce

The second menu was the Margherita (₩6,000). It's a good price, so it's worth checking out if you're looking for a filling sandwich that won't break the bank. Compared to a typical sandwich, the cheese's character comes through more strongly, making for a distinctive taste.

It's a combination of basil sauce and tomato sauce, and eating it together with the focaccia bread made the flavor feel even smoother. The bread's mild flavor balanced out the rich taste of the mozzarella cheese, making for a harmonious bite. It seemed like it would also pair well with wine or coffee.

The Margherita (₩6,000) is a familiar combination, so it's a menu anyone can enjoy comfortably. The fresh tomato-based flavor and the nutty richness of the cheese came together for a clean, satisfying bite.

The price is also relatively easy on the wallet, so it seemed like a good option for a simple snack or light meal. In particular, focaccia bread has a charm different from regular bread, which made it enjoyable somewhere between pizza and sandwich.

How the Focaccia Cucina takeout tasted at home

Even after packing it up and eating it at home, the bread texture stayed good, and since the ingredient combinations were each different, ordering several menus together meant I could taste a variety without getting bored. Rather than picking just one, sharing several menus seems like the better way to really appreciate what Focaccia Cucina is about.

I think Focaccia Cucina is worth a visit especially for people in the Seocho area looking for a different kind of bread menu or a simple Italian meal.
