Omokgyo ramen restaurant: motsu ramen with kimchi, tamagobap in broth
In short
Gyedan Ramen Mokdong Branch is a Japanese ramen restaurant on basement level 1 of the PARK161 building in Mokdong, Yangcheon-gu, Seoul, near Omokgyo Station. The writer ordered motsu ramen with tamagobap (Japanese-style egg rice), put kimchi on the chashu, soaked the tamagobap in the ramen broth and switched to the secret spicy sauce halfway through. Pairing motsu ramen with tamagobap was the highlight at Gyedan Ramen Mokdong Branch, and the writer would order both together again.

I went and had ramen in Mokdong today! It's been a while since I ate somewhere and thought "wow, this is really good…✨" so I wanted to write it up right away. The place I visited was Gyedan Ramen Mokdong Branch! This time I ordered motsu ramen (tripe ramen) and tamagobap (egg rice)!
Cutting to the conclusion: I'm so glad I ordered both together. The ramen was delicious on its own, but eating it alongside the tamagobap made the combo genuinely great 🥺💗✨
Where is Gyedan Ramen Mokdong Branch and how late is it open?
Gyedan Ramen Mokdong Branch is on B1 of the PARK161 building in Mokdong. Per the in-store signage, it opens at 11:00 and closes at 21:00, with last order at 20:30, and there's no break time.

Once I walked into the PARK161 building, there was a big sign for Gyedan Ramen Mokdong Branch, so it wasn't hard to find at all! Per the signage in the photo, it's 11:00 open / 21:00 close / last order 20:30, with no break time 🙂👍

I often end up eating at awkward hours, so I honestly love places without a break time haha. The entrance was clean and neat from the start ✨ overall it had that fresh, just-opened feeling.
Inside Gyedan Ramen Mokdong: atmosphere and solo dining seats
The interior of Gyedan Ramen Mokdong Branch has a warm, clean wood-toned atmosphere, with separate partitioned solo seats that make eating alone comfortable. High chairs are also provided.

Once I stepped inside, the vibe was better than I expected! The wood tones gave it a warm feeling, and everything was clean and clutter-free overall. There were seats specifically arranged for eating alone. Each seat was partitioned off, so it would honestly be really comfortable to come here solo ⭐⭐

A lot of people visit ramen shops alone, so isn't it great to have seating like this??🥺✨

And there was a speaker on one side that caught my eye for no reason haha. With little interior details like that, it felt a bit more atmospheric than your average ramen shop!
High chairs were also provided separately. Good to know if you're visiting with a child.
The tables were spacious and clean, and everything you'd need, like small side plates, was already set out, so it was easy to eat comfortably. And before the meal, they served a cool tea ✨ Sipping that while waiting for the ramen was really nice 🤍
There was also kimchi (fermented vegetables) prepared to eat alongside the ramen. I like eating kimchi in between bites of ramen, so I helped myself pretty generously haha. Especially after a bite of the rich, savory ramen, a bite of kimchi cleared my palate completely, so it paired surprisingly well. The kimchi here was seriously good...🩷🩷🩷
Should you order motsu ramen and tamagobap together at Gyedan Ramen?
The motsu ramen at Gyedan Ramen Mokdong Branch comes generously loaded with motsu (beef tripe), plus plenty of chashu (braised pork), egg, wood ear mushroom, and green onion. Adding the tamagobap made it feel like a full spread, and ordering both together was the right call.

Finally, the motsu ramen + tamagobap arrived 🍜🍚

The motsu ramen and tamagobap looked seriously good from the visuals alone. The ramen had plenty of motsu, plus a generous topping of chashu, egg, wood ear mushroom, and green onion. With the tamagobap sitting right next to it, it really felt like a proper spread...🥺✨🤍

Honestly at first I thought the ramen alone might be enough, but I would have regretted not ordering the tamagobap haha 👍

How do the motsu ramen broth and motsu taste?
The motsu ramen broth at Gyedan Ramen is rich and savory without being overly greasy, so I kept going back for more. The motsu was chewy and savory, tasting best when eaten together with the noodles.
The motsu ramen was seriously delicious...🤍 I tried the broth first, and the rich, savory flavor really came through properly. When I had it, the broth wasn't just heavy or greasy — the deep flavor hit clearly, and I kept reaching for more.
And the noodles and broth went really well together. They say ramen tastes best before the noodles get soggy, right? So I snapped photos quickly and dug in right away hahaha 🤣🤣👍👍

And most of all, what I loved most about the motsu ramen was the motsu itself!! Chewy and savory, and it got tastier the more I chewed. Eating a piece of motsu together with the noodles added extra texture and was really delicious 🥺 Eating it with the motsu was much more my style than eating just the noodles alone.

Kimchi on chashu: the motsu ramen combo to try
The chashu at Gyedan Ramen Mokdong Branch was thick-cut, with an appetizingly seared surface. Midway through, topping the chashu with kimchi made it a bit spicy and refreshing, and I kept eating it that way.
Can't forget the chashu, either. It came in generous, thick pieces with a nicely seared surface, so it passed the visual test immediately ✨ I took a bite together with the noodles, and adding the meat definitely made it more filling.

And partway through, I topped the chashu with kimchi and ate them together, and this combo was really delicious too haha. After the rich broth + noodles + chashu, having kimchi come in made it slightly spicy and refreshing, so I kept going.

How to eat tamagobap at Gyedan Ramen
The tamagobap at Gyedan Ramen is rice topped with a generous layer of yellow egg omelet, with meat, seaweed, and green onion in the center. Following the in-store instructions to gently mix it with chopsticks and soak it in the ramen broth, it paired really well with the motsu ramen broth.
The tamagobap had a really generous layer of yellow egg omelet on top. With meat, seaweed, and green onion in the center too, it looked pretty as well. It was delicious eaten on its own, but even better alongside the ramen.
According to the in-store instructions, there's also a way to eat the tamagobap where you gently mix it with chopsticks and soak it in the ramen broth to make it moist. So as I ate, I naturally ended up eating it together with the ramen broth, and this pairing was really great. Eating the rice on top made it definitely filling, and it paired well with the motsu ramen broth, so I think I'll order both again next time 💗

Changing the flavor with Gyedan Ramen's secret spicy sauce
Gyedan Ramen is set up so you can add a secret spicy sauce partway through the meal to make it spicier. As the broth turned red, it developed a different charm from the start, and I ate the whole bowl without getting tired of it.
As I ate, the broth turned red like this, and it had a different charm compared to the initial rich, savory flavor 😋😋💗 Since it's one bowl of ramen but you can change the flavor midway, it never got boring. Especially once it turned a bit spicy, it paired really well with the savory flavor of the motsu ✨

And the egg can't be left out either! I saved it until the very end, and the inside wasn't dry at all — it had a moist texture that went well with the ramen broth. I thought I was eating slowly bite by bite for photos, but once I actually started eating it was so delicious that I finished it almost instantly haha.

Gyedan Ramen Mokdong receipt review promotion
At the time of my visit, Gyedan Ramen Mokdong Branch was running a receipt review event. If you show your receipt and write a review with a photo of the food, you can get a free soda or tamagobap, so keep that in mind if you're planning to visit ✨
Verdict: motsu ramen at Gyedan Ramen Mokdong Branch
Gyedan Ramen Mokdong Branch was a ramen place where I wanted to slurp down every last drop of broth for the first time in a while!! The motsu ramen I had was rich, savory, and the kind of flavor that kept pulling me back in — it was so delicious the whole time I was eating 🥺💗 In particular, the distinctive savory flavor of the motsu paired so well with the broth that I knew from the first bite I'd chosen right.
Eating the noodles and broth together was delicious, and adding motsu in between kept it enjoyable all the way to the end without getting tired of it ✨ I generally like ramen, and Gyedan Ramen is a place that kept coming to mind even after I finished eating. Next time I want to try other menu items, but the motsu ramen was so good I think I'll end up ordering it again haha.
A place I want to revisit whenever I want to properly enjoy a delicious bowl of ramen! I ate really well and was very satisfied 🍜💗
