I had some business in Mokdong today, so my partner and I decided to grab dinner while we were out. I'd eaten here before and loved it, so here's my revisit review of Yugwanjang Banjeom, a Chinese restaurant near Omokgyo.

Yugwanjang Banjeom is a Chinese restaurant with insanely good access — just a 1-minute walk from Omokgyo Station Exit 2. Open 24 hours, no closed days, and no break time either. Restaurants without a break time are so rare these days.
There are lots of apartments and bars nearby, so it's perfect for both people ordering delivery and people coming in for a hangover cure in the morning. Recovering from a hangover... only to start drinking again, haha. Sundays kind of feel like a Chinese food day, you know that vibe.
Inside Yugwanjang Banjeom: a bright hall with group tables and a big-screen TV
In my head, Chinese restaurants are usually kind of dim and dingy with small round tables, but Yugwanjang Banjeom was bright and comfortable, which I loved. There's also tons of group seating — enough that you could come here for a lunch office dinner.
Plus, there's a big TV. Normally if you watch TV while eating you get scolded for eating too slowly, but watching it out with your partner is totally legal, lol. My partner's eyes got kind of serious watching baseball for the first time in a while. It'd also be great for casually watching soccer or baseball with a drink. Sports somehow feel more fun when you're all watching together.
What we ordered: jjajangmyeon 8,000 won, fried rice 9,000 won, fried dumplings 7,500 won
At Yugwanjang Banjeom we ordered jjajangmyeon for 8,000 won, fried rice for 9,000 won, fried dumplings for 7,500 won, and two drinks at 2,000 won each. I'm not usually a big noodle person, but for some reason I was craving the most basic Chinese dish today — plain jjajangmyeon, haha. It had been forever since I'd had it!
Besides the jjachai (pickled radish) and danmuji (yellow pickled radish) that come standard, there are also onions and kimchi. You can just grab extra side dishes from the self-serve zone! Aprons are there too.

Here comes the plain jjajangmyeon — look at that glossy sheen.
Chili flakes are a must for both me and my partner. Last time we got spicy chili jjampong and cried our eyes out, so this time we skipped the chili jjajang and just added chili flakes instead. Since the sauce was freshly made, it mixed really well with the noodles.
Eating right there at the restaurant meant I didn't have to worry about the noodles going mushy, lol. Yeah, everything really does taste better in the hall than delivered.
Fluffy fried rice at Yugwanjang Banjeom, but the sauce fell a little short
My partner ordered the fried rice, and the rice was properly fried and truly fluffy. It had soaked up plenty of egg, giving it a beautiful golden glow. Given the huge amount of rice, the jjajang sauce that came with it seemed a bit skimpy, lol, so I shared some of the sauce from my jjajangmyeon. My ever-positive partner said the leftover rice could just go in the jjampong broth — a real expert move.
Fried dumplings over tangsuyuk, and you can order just one extra
Is there anyone else out there who prefers fried dumplings over tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork)? I actually like fried dumplings more, haha. Hot, crispy fried dumplings straight from the restaurant are the best. Next time I might just get tangsuyuk with two extra fried dumplings added on. Turns out you can even add fried dumplings one at a time!
We dipped them happily into my partner's homemade dumpling sauce with chili in it. Chili lovers unite. 😂 After a while, it was a proper greasy, satisfying Chinese food dinner — Yugwanjang Banjeom is now a place I trust completely.
