Paju Chinese restaurant dinner for four: extra squid stone jjamppong

In short

Dolpanseok Jjamppong Paju Simhaksan Branch is a Chinese restaurant that recently opened in the Dolgotji food alley near Simhaksan in Paju, Gyeonggi, where nurungji (scorched rice) is layered under a hot stone plate for its signature stone jjajang and stone jjamppong. On a weekday evening, four of us came with our parents and ordered the nurungji stone-plate jjajang, a medium stone jjamppong with extra squid and tungbosha (fried shrimp toast), along with unlimited rice refills and a self-serve bar with green onion kimchi. Dolpanseok Jjamppong is an easy family dinner pick near Paju Simhaksan and the outlets.

Dolpanseok Jjamppong, newly opened in Paju's Dolgotji food alley

Dolpanseok Jjamppong Paju Simhaksan Branch is a Chinese restaurant that just opened in the Dolgotji food alley near Simhaksan, Paju. A stone-plate jjamppong place opened, so of course I went right away!⭐️ It's right behind the fish-grilling village I love.

  • 🚗Parking available

We went on a weekday evening in Paju-land, where the sunsets are gorgeous🌆. There's almost no Chinese food around Paju Outlets and Simhaksan, so this could be a great option. The parking lot is huge, so no need to stress about that.

Stone jjamppong with nurungji scorched rice under the hot plate

There are plenty of stone-plate jajang places, but what does stone-plate jjamppong taste like?? Super curious🧐 And with scorched rice as the base underneath, even the menu sign at the entrance made my mouth water haha. This is definitely going to be good!

There's also a standing sign right at the door!⭐️ Ooh! Lots of unusual menu items like samgye haemul nurungji-tang (chicken-seafood scorched rice soup) and chili-pesto stone jjajang.

Full house at Dolpanseok Jjamppong on an early weekday evening

Inside, the tables are neatly lined up in tidy rows! The high ceiling makes it feel even more open and spacious. Even on an early weekday evening it was completely full.

What?! Was this a Paju hidden gem I never knew about?😭

Green onion kimchi self-serve bar and unlimited rice refills

Pickled radish, onion, and green onion kimchi self-serve corner — and this place's real kicker⭐️ — an unlimited rice refill zone. I thought this would be perfect for big eaters, and sure enough, looking around there were a lot of guys 😂😂. Since it's Chinese food, there were plenty of families too.

The sign telling you not to feel shy and just order as much as you want is a nice touch. FYI, they're also running a Naver receipt review event that gives you a plum-ade drink worth ₩5,000✅

Our order for four: stone-plate jjajang, medium stone jjamppong with extra squid, tungbosha

Since it was table-order for four of us, we went with✅ nurungji stone-plate jajang, nurungji stone-plate jjamppong (medium) with extra squid, and tungbosha. Serving pickled radish and onion alongside green onion kimchi is unusual and this place's real kicker!⭐️ You know that jjapaghetti + green onion kimchi combo we all love, right? haha

The stone-plate jjajang arrives searing hot

Whoa! Look at the visuals on this jajang! You know it's good just by looking😍. Chives, quail eggs, loads of seafood, onion still crunchy like a good liver-style jajang, and that sweet-salty, smoky sauce is seriously delicious👍👍

Tungbosha, the fried shrimp toast you should always add

⭐️You absolutely must try the tungbosha! Just trust me and order it, no question! Springy shrimp meat is stuffed in so full it's about to burst out, and one bite gives you crispy bread with shrimp meat crunching through👍👍

How does the bean sprout-piled stone jjamppong taste?

Okay! This one carries the restaurant's name — the stone jjamppong. I loved it just from the look of all those bean sprouts! Piled high on top, the extra squid we added was also nice and plump, and the taste? Kind of like jeuk-tteok (instant spicy rice cake soup)?!🤣 I love jeuk-tteok, so meeting that flavor in jjamppong was exactly my thing!👏

Since there's scorched rice at the bottom, they gave us a stainless spatula to scrape it all up after eating, so we refilled rice and mixed it in, then finished the whole thing! Wow! I never expected green onion kimchi to go this well with it — total rice thief!💛 The guys at the table next to us mixed everything and cleaned their bowls too — the broth was rich enough to go perfectly with rice.👍

Free dessert corner: coffee, yogurt drinks and rice crackers

The staff were super kind too, but on our way out they gave us coffee, yogurt, and rice crackers to take as dessert — such a warm touch😍 Impressed!

We finished off with yogurt and gangjeong (rice crackers) as a palate cleanser, and it was so good haha, the best👍

Is Dolpanseok Jjamppong worth it for a family meal in Paju?

I brought my parents along, and they kept saying this place is good, this food is delicious, like a hundred times haha. Great for a Paju family meal, and they loved the generous portions😁. Since there aren't many good Chinese restaurants in Paju, that makes sense — honestly, I think it's even better than that famous stone-plate jajang place that celebrities visit and people line up for! Near Paju Simhaksan and Paju Outlets, in the Dolgotji food street, this is going to be a strong contender — a Paju Simhaksan gem where both the tungbosha and the jajang are delicious. That's my honest review of the stone jjamppong, done!
