Family loach soup set near Yeongnamnu, Milyang: Ilpum Irojeong
In short
Ilpum Irojeong is a Namwon-style loach soup restaurant on Baekmin-ro near Yeongnamnu in Milyang, Gyeongnam. The writer ordered two servings of the pork-and-mackerel loach soup set at 18,000 won each, fed a family of four until everyone was stuffed, and topped it off with free chrysanthemum mushroom tea and dessert (sweet pumpkin sikhye and sujeonggwa). Even the 6-year-old happily ate the fried loach and grilled mackerel with their hands, making this a strong pick for family dining in Milyang.

Ilpum Irojeong / 1st floor, Beomchang Building, 75-1 Baekmin-ro, Milyang-si, Gyeongnam
After camping in Changnyeong with the kid, we planned to spend some time in Milyang and sightsee at Yeongnamnu — and it turned out there was a great Milyang loach soup restaurant right near there that's good to visit with kids ^^ It was such a great Milyang restaurant to go to with our little one, Ilpum Irojeong. We ended up stuffing ourselves silly with delicious food after a while, haha. Let's get into the review!

Can you park at Ilpum Irojeong?
The first thing you look up whenever finding a restaurant is parking info, right? Haha. We also checked out Ilpum Irojeong's parking situation and saw there were about 4-5 spots on the 1st floor of the building. But when we visited it was full, so we just found somewhere to park in the side/back alleys! If you're lucky you might snag a spot right in front of the restaurant :)
Ilpum Irojeong, a Namwon-style loach soup specialist, can have a wait on weekend lunches. We visited on an early Sunday evening so we could eat relatively comfortably ^^
Restoring the body and soul with loach
Healthy food is a must for recharging your energy, right? As a Korean food lover, I really love loach soup too, and Ilpum Irojeong's loach soup was seriously rich and deep. I ate it so happily!

The interior is very clean. You can grab extra side dishes yourself, and with kiosk ordering it was super convenient for me solo ^^
Ilpum Irojeong's menu board

Ilpum Irojeong's set menu is seriously top-tier value,

Chrysanthemum mushroom loach soup + boiled pork + grilled mackerel + fried loach + japchae + salad + 4 side dishes
Boiled pork + mackerel-chrysanthemum-mushroom loach soup set for 18,000 won. We ordered two servings and ate it together, and all four of us in the family ate until we were stuffed. The portions were huge, and I didn't expect much from the side dishes but they were seriously delicious.. so good I basically inhaled it. I highly recommend the set menu!!!! If you're visiting with kids, the set menu is a must,

And the water isn't just plain water haha. It's tea brewed from chrysanthemum mushroom — even the free water they give you can be this special!!

The extra side dish corner, water dispenser, garlic and cheongyang chili peppers. You can grab more side dishes depending on your taste, pour yourself water, or add garlic and cheongyang chili to your loach soup ^^ I loaded mine up with garlic!

Is this really the portion for just two servings?
This was the first tray they brought out — is it really believable that this much food is for two servings? The amount of boiled pork was bigger than expected, I was surprised. The meat was so tender, and wrapped with the kimchi that came with it, it tasted out of this world. Our kid said the fried loach was delicious and ate it all, and even the salad dressing was so good I scraped the plate clean. There wasn't a single thing that wasn't delicious;
Every single side dish was neat and well-made, and great to eat with a kid.
There wasn't a single banchan (side dish) that felt like an afterthought. You couldn't even fathom how much care the owner puts into the food!

Grilled mackerel that won over both the 6-year-old and the 42-year-old
And this mackerel, this was truly the kicker. It was so moist and tender that everyone from our 6-year-old to our 42-year-old dad ate it up saying it was amazing ^^ Adding mackerel costs an extra 7,000 won, and I think the loach soup + mackerel combo is a great choice if you're visiting with kids :)

This mackerel really deserves praise,
And the loach soup hadn't even come out yet — is it really okay to be this generous already?
There was even lemon next to the mackerel, what a nice touch..? Squeezing lemon juice on the mackerel made it so refreshing!
And then finally, the loach soup arrived. The broth was completely rich, packed with ingredients, so generous :)
The loach soup served with turmeric rice — this is really eating healthy food properly,

In this era of high prices, does it make sense to get a spread like this for 36,000 won? So generous. Highly recommend as a Milyang loach soup restaurant.

Rooms good for three-generation family meals too
Great to bring grandparents along, great to come with kids, and I think it'd be really nice for three generations to have a meal together here. There are private rooms too, so you can enjoy a private meal with family ^^
Can side dishes really be this delicious? Moist, zero fishy smell mackerel and perfectly boiled pork + ssamjang (dipping sauce) + garlic combo. Just looking at it makes my mouth water.
My loach soup loaded with garlic. Can you see all the ingredients? Ilpum Irojeong doesn't skimp on ingredients.
It was so delicious I inhaled it without even noticing I was scalding the roof of my mouth hahahahahahaha
The fried loach our kid said was delicious and ate with their hands, haha.

That's definitely the face of someone enjoying it...^^

Even the dessert was flawless at Ilpum Irojeong
There's a free dessert corner here, and I don't know what to do if even this is delicious, owner ㅠㅠ

We decided to only eat as much as we brought over, but it was so delicious that even mom really wanted more and held back hahahahahaha, to keep the promise I made with my kid, haha.
Why are the sweet pumpkin sikhye (sweet rice drink) and sujeonggwa (cinnamon punch) also this rich, owner? The kids drank it well too! Sweet and delicious ><

Irojeong's dessert paired perfectly with the sikhye and sujeonggwa,
Receipt review event
Ever generous, Irojeong is also running an event where you get purple sweet potato heart rice puffs for writing a Naver receipt review.
We finished off a delicious visit to Yeongnamnu with our kid. Ilpum Irojeong, the Milyang loach soup restaurant that was flawless even down to dessert, I really recommend it as a family dining spot. Everything about Ilpum Irojeong's food was clean and neat — this is definitely a place I'll come back to!
