Yangyang floating café and electric boat ride: Cafe Dunchi

In short

Cafe Dunchi is a floating café on the Namdaecheon River in Yangyang, Gangwon. I ordered an iced Americano and homemade lemon tea with my parents, then drove an electric boat for 30 minutes with our drinks. The slow speed felt steady, and the ride gave us enough time to take in the river scenery.

During my summer vacation on Jul 27, I visited the floating Cafe Dunchi and the Namdaecheon Water Leisure Sports Center on Yangyang’s Namdaecheon River with my parents. We ordered drinks at the café, then rode an electric boat and enjoyed the river scenery.

What is the Namdaecheon River view like from the café?

Cafe Dunchi is a floating café on the surface of the Namdaecheon River. When I went up to the second floor, I could take in the waterside and green surroundings at a glance.

I chose an iced Americano, while my parents chose hot homemade lemon tea. After receiving our drinks, we went down to the boat dock on the first floor.

Can you bring drinks onto the electric boat?

Drinks were allowed on the electric boat, so we brought along the drinks we had ordered at the café. The experience involved driving the boat ourselves around the Namdaecheon River.

The ride lasted 30 minutes, and a timer on the boat made it easy to check the remaining time. For me, it was enough time to enjoy the scenery.

What was the electric boat ride with my parents like?

A staff member explained how to operate it. It worked by using buttons to turn it on and off, so I did not find driving difficult. The boat did not move very fast, which felt steady and made it comfortable to ride with my parents.

There was a Bluetooth speaker in the boat, so we could listen to music we liked. Looking around the Namdaecheon River while listening to music felt like a relaxed break.

It rained a little during the experience. I found that scenery atmospheric as well. Around us were families and couples enjoying the boats.

I was satisfied that I could enjoy both a café overlooking the Namdaecheon River and an electric boat in one visit. Being able to bring drinks onto the boat and park for free was especially convenient. It remains a place I would like to return to from my Yangyang trip with my parents.
