In short
Marblejeong (마블정) is a 1++ hanwoo beef and wine restaurant in Seongsu, Seoul, near Ttukseom Station. On a weekday, with a 12:30pm reservation, the writer was given a private room and had the 400g 1++ hanwoo platter of striploin, brisket and salchisal (chuck flap, the cut of the day) grilled by staff, and Marblejeong's self-bar japchae (glass noodles) and house-made pesto sauce beat expectations. Marblejeong: a hanwoo restaurant in Seongsu for treating someone
Marblejeong is a hanwoo (Korean beef) and wine restaurant in Seongsu where you can eat 1++ hanwoo in an upscale setting. As the weather heats up everyone talks about stamina food, and for me stamina food is always meat! So I finally went for hanwoo at Marblejeong in Seongsu. If you're looking for a nice place in Seongsu, or somewhere to treat someone, the classy Marblejeong is a perfect fit.
Where is Marblejeong? Exterior and location near Ttukseom Station
Marblejeong is at 57 Seongsuil-ro, 2nd floor, Seongdong-gu, Seoul. The entrance is stylish from the very start! I remember being shocked at how glamorous it looked the first time I saw it, haha.

Marblejeong is a hanwoo and wine restaurant, and besides 1++ hanwoo there's aged pork and a ssambap set (rice with leaf wraps) for lunch. I'm a Korean food lover who adores ssambap, so I'm curious what the ssambap set at a 1++ hanwoo place tastes like... 🥹 Next time I'll have to come for it.

Is Marblejeong busy at weekday lunch? Dining room and private rooms
I visited Marblejeong at 12:30pm on a weekday and it was almost full. I was really surprised! Since they serve lunch set menus, it seems to have a reputation as a Seongsu lunch spot, and office workers nearby came for lunch.

The place is large and holds a lot of people, with groups of up to 56 possible, so Marblejeong is also coming up as a Seongsu company dinner spot.

It was packed with no empty seats, then at 1pm the tables emptied out like magic, haha. The tables are big and roomy so it's comfortable, and the interior is classy and sleek, so you feel like you're being treated 🤭
Reserve for a private room: ideal for a wedding invitation meal
I'd reserved at Marblejeong and got assigned a room! I didn't even know they had rooms 🤭 You can eat privately, so I highly recommend it in Seongsu for a wedding invitation meal or any important dinner!

Eating delicious 1++ hanwoo privately in a comfortable room with grilling service...!
Marblejeong menu and June weekday lunch discount

All of Marblejeong's hanwoo is 1++! The pork is aged hanjeon (Korean domestic pork). The 1++ hanwoo grilled platter is discounted on weekdays until 2pm throughout June, so I recommend visiting before June ends! We ordered the 400g 1++ hanwoo platter.
Marblejeong self-bar: is the japchae really this good?

Marblejeong has a self-bar where you help yourself to side dishes and ssam vegetables. A staff member told us about it, so I came to look around and ended up loading up on sides, haha. There's a wide variety of side dishes, and you can take as many ssam vegetables as you like.
I thought, let me have a little japchae (glass noodle stir-fry)~ and took a casual bite, and the japchae was so good I was shocked. Seriously, I haven't even had the hanwoo yet, and the japchae is already this delicious, what am I supposed to do!
Marblejeong table setting and 4 pairing sauces
At Marblejeong, the hanwoo comes with 4 pairing sauces: Maldon salt, Himalayan salt, wasabi, and lastly Marblejeong's own pesto, ground with honey, almonds and more!
They said this one is house-made too, and unexpectedly this sauce was the real kicker. Dip the hanwoo and the sauce soaks in evenly, so good,, 👍

A whole spread of side dishes comes out too: myeongi-namul (pickled wild garlic greens), pickled radish wraps, ssamjang (dipping paste), seasoned lettuce, and a salad full of fresh vegetables. The seasoned lettuce especially kept me reaching for more because the sauce was so good.
Which cuts come in the 400g 1++ hanwoo platter?

Marblejeong's 400g 1++ hanwoo platter comes in 3 cuts: striploin, brisket, and the cut of the day, which was salchisal (chuck flap tail) this day. One generous plate of 1++ hanwoo! The marbling is insane, and I could kind of see why it's called Marblejeong 😍 The garnishes were mushrooms, ginkgo nuts, garlic, potato and onion.
The grill wasn't hot yet, so staff put the vegetables on first and then the meat. The reason I like Marblejeong, a Seongsu hanwoo spot, is that staff grill the meat for you, so you can eat comfortably the whole time!

First cut: striploin with Maldon salt and soy-based sauce
The staff grilled the striploin first, and the marbling was clear and the quality was crazy, seriously 😭 The smell while grilling was amazing too. When was the last time I had meat? 🥹
Whenever I go out for meat I tend to avoid it because grilling myself is a hassle and I hate the smell in my clothes and the splattering oil, but Marblejeong has a special ventilation system so almost no smell gets on your clothes! Maybe that's why there were quite a few guests eating meat even on a weekday lunch.
It's hanwoo, so you don't need to cook it long, which is nice, right? 🤭 My striploin was cooked just right... haha. I ate the first piece plain with nothing, and it melted softly in my mouth.
They told us to dip the striploin in Maldon salt, so I tried it ✌️ Dipped in salt, the signature hanwoo flavor was amplified, which I loved. I also dipped a barely-cooked piece in the soy-based sauce, and the sauce soaked into the grain of the surface and spread through my mouth with the juices, so good! Garlic in it gives a clean aftertaste too.

Marblejeong's house-made pesto sauce
Marblejeong's pesto is a sauce ground from honey, almonds and perilla leaves. Dipped on hanwoo, the perilla cuts the richness, and it finishes with the nuttiness of almonds and the subtle sweetness of honey.

Staff put the well-cooked vegetables on my small plate, and my personal favorite garnish has to be the king oyster mushroom,, haha. Bite in and the juices burst out, moist and tender,, you only know this taste if you've tried it!
Cut of the day: salchisal (chuck flap)
Next up, salchisal! The 1++ hanwoo at Marblejeong in Seongsu is all hand-selected by experts, and they say you can enjoy strictly managed, carefully trimmed hanwoo comfortably and deliciously.

Trying the quickly cooked salchisal,, hehe, and yes, it melts in your mouth. The hanwoo aroma is strong and it's tender, so there can't be hanwoo tastier than this 🥹 Recommended for a Seongsu office lunch too!
I'm a wasabi lover who puts wasabi on all my meat, but Marblejeong has so many sauces to pair that I think I ate less wasabi than usual.. haha. Still, hanwoo with wasabi is the best combo,,, 🫶
Last cut: brisket wrapped around rice with plenty of wasabi
The last of the Marblejeong platter was the fattiest cut, brisket, and brisket is, well.. gone in 1 second! They grilled it just briefly on each side. They said to eat the first piece with salt, and strangely it cut all the greasiness and left just the hanwoo flavor.

But of course brisket has to be wrapped around rice! I saved my rice for this,, wrap the rice in the fatty brisket, pile wasabi on top, and it's unbelievably nutty 🤤
Marblejeong honest review: is it worth it?

In the end I couldn't resist and had a draft beer,, I got one through Marblejeong's review event, haha. Asahi Super Dry draft, no less!
Marblejeong has an upscale atmosphere and quality hanwoo, with everything from a great-value ₩70,000 course to premium courses for formal occasions. No need to hesitate: for 1++ hanwoo, go to Marblejeong in Seongsu!
