I went to Jowatso, a beef restaurant in Janghowon, Icheon, and the meat was so good and such great value — perfect for a family meal or a gathering spot when you're craving beef in Janghowon, haha.

Jowatso Janghowon Gamgok Main Branch is located at 25 Seodong-daero 8809beon-gil, Janghowon-eup, Icheon-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. It's just a short way in from Seodong-daero, and not far from Janghowon Sports Park either.

If you're driving, there's a parking lot behind the building, so it's nice and convenient to bring the car, haha.

They're open daily from 11am to 10pm. Just note the last order is at 9:20pm before you head over!

Inside the restaurant — good for groups or kids?

The interior overall felt clean and had that comfortable barbecue-restaurant vibe that's good for eating with a group. There was plenty of space between tables too, which made the meal pleasant.

It looked great not just for family meals but also for group gatherings and company dinners. They also have high chairs, so it seems good to visit with kids too.

There were two of us, but I wanted to eat well so I ordered the beef rib platter. You can choose plain, marinated, or half-and-half, so I went with half-and-half.

Sushi rice comes with the basic side dishes

When the basic side dishes were set out, sushi rice came along with them, which was a special touch — you can make your own beef sushi with it, haha.

There's a well-stocked self-serve bar near the counter, so if you run low on any side dish while eating, you can just grab more yourself.

The complimentary beef hangover soup

When you order meat at this Janghowon spot, beef hangover soup comes free! And this soup is genuinely delicious. If I hadn't come for lunch, I would've wanted a shot of soju with it, ugh.

A mini fan when the charcoal heat gets intense

The charcoal came out and it was so hot my face was getting warm. That's when the mini fans they provide come in handy!

There was a reason there were so many mini fans by the entrance when I walked in. I grabbed one and pointed it at my face — no more heat, and it was great, haha.

Beef rib platter, half-and-half, ₩69,000

The generous beef rib platter arrived. I went with plain and marinated, half-and-half, and since we were hungry they grilled the unmarinated plain ribs first. The meat clearly looked fresh with great presentation, so I put it on the grill with high hopes.

The fire was strong so it cooked quickly. You could really taste the savory flavor and meaty aroma of the beef itself, which was really appealing. Since it's beef, I grilled the outside golden brown while keeping the inside moist and not overcooked — the tender texture kept me reaching for more!

Beef tartare 160g, ₩17,000 — turned into beef sushi

The beef tartare I ordered as a side also arrived. Glossy, glistening — passed the visual test right away! Tender, chewy texture with a savory flavor. Put on top of the sushi rice as beef sushi, it was so good I devoured it in no time, haha.

Marinated beef ribs — a total rice thief

The marinated beef ribs had a sweet, salty sauce that blended perfectly with the meat, and honestly it was the most to-my-taste marinated beef rib I've had. I ended up ordering rice — the marinade was so good it was a total rice thief.

Cold noodles (mul-naengmyeon), ₩6,000

After eating a good amount of meat, I got a craving for something refreshing, so we ordered mul-naengmyeon too. As expected, marinated beef ribs plus cold noodles is an unbeatable combo. The tangy, cool noodles paired really well with the savory meat and sweet marinade, haha.

They even give you ground beef on the way out

Have you ever seen a beef restaurant ask if you want ground beef to take home? If I'd been heading straight home, I would've grabbed some and made proper burger patties, but since we were headed out for more fun stuff, I regretfully said it was okay. There was even fabric deodorizer at the door — great service all around!
