How scary is the Obsession theme at Cube Escape Daejeon?
Cube Escape Daejeon Dunsan Branch is an escape room café in Dunsan-dong, Daejeon, and the theme I took on this time was the thriller Obsession, intense right down to the name. I can't resist a thriller or horror vibe, and I think I finally found an all-time best.

I got goosebumps all over, the tension exploded, and I honestly thought my heart would jump out of my chest. It was so immersive that even after we finished, my friend and I kept shaking and couldn't shake off the afterglow. So here's a heart-pounding review for all the thriller fans out there, with that vivid, thrilling shock intact.

The waiting room at Cube Escape in Dunsan-dong
From the moment you open the door, the cold, dark interior grabs your eyes. I love escape rooms and thought I'd conquered nearly every escape room café in Daejeon, but Obsession here brought a whole different level of tension.

The walls of the waiting room are covered in Polaroids, proof that plenty of skilled players have been through this hot spot, and the posters in the "Hall of Fame" had my heart rate climbing before we even went in. There were lots of exciting themes, like Titanic, Organ Trade (장기밀매, Janggi-milmae) and Door of Wailing, but our target was just one: Obsession, the boss of thriller themes. Putting our things in the locker and setting the combination lock gave me a chill I can still feel in my sweaty palms.
Entering Obsession blindfolded: how immersive is it?
Obsession starts with you covering your eyes with a blindfold, putting a hand on the shoulder of the person in front, and walking along a narrow corridor. The corridor into the theme is dark but lit with mysterious lighting, so it feels like walking into another world, and the suffocating silence with every step was a work of art.
When we finally entered the room and opened our eyes, the high-quality interior and props were pure goosebumps. True to the name Obsession, an odd sense of pressure and fear filled the air, as if someone were watching and chasing me like mad. The lighting and the background music were so well done that I felt like the doomed lead in a thriller movie. Immersion went past 100%.

What are the puzzles like in Obsession?
The puzzles in Obsession aren't far-fetched head-scratchers; they're tightly interlocked with the storyline, so each solve reveals one more chilling truth. My heart pounded with every clue, and even the click of a lock opening felt scary.
Even while using hints, my back crawled and I kept looking behind me, the psychological pressure was that good. I understood with my whole body why fans rave about this theme and are so obsessed with it. The screams that burst out whenever a hidden mechanism kicked in, and the thrill of it, give you more catharsis than any action movie.
