I visited Smile Hall Sanho Branch (스마일회관 산호점), near Changwon NC Park, for a plentiful dinner with friends, a date, or family at reasonable prices ^^.. Come down from the ballpark entrance and it is across from Yeokjeon Halmeoni Maekju; use a nearby public parking lot. For the restroom, I went outside and up the stairs at the entrance of the karaoke building on the left. It is a shared building restroom, so each restroom has the shop name written in front of it!

If you come down toward Yeokjeon Halmeoni Maekju by the ballpark entrance, ta-da—there is this wonderfully green shop right across the way. Its instantly noticeable exterior makes it easy to find ~

Round and group tables, plus menu prices

You can even spot a cute little family motto peeking out. Smile today, too 😀 Every table comes with salt, pepper, seasoning sauce, and napkins, and the stools have lids that open. There are round tables and square group tables for several people, though the inner square tables may be reserved for groups, so I recommend calling ahead if you want one ~ I sat at a round table by the window.

The flagship is Binggeure Hall in Seok-dong, Jinhae. I am fairly sensitive to ingredients because I sometimes get an upset stomach after eating meat that has been quick-frozen like frozen pork belly. Smile Hall says it flash-freezes Grade 1 pork belly slaughtered that same day. Fresh ingredients: approved. So good.

After you order, a generous spread of banchan (Korean side dishes) arrives on a cozy silver tray. Is this not exactly the retro table spread that looks as if its legs might break under the food at your country grandma's house.. While nibbling on rolled omelet and kimchi pancake as we waited for the meat ~ the soy-sauce egg-yolk sauce beside the shredded scallions was truly the key.. Just writing this makes me want it again.

Savory, clean-tasting frozen pork belly without any odor

Here comes the fresh, same-day-slaughtered flash-frozen pork belly! We diligently caught the rendered fat in a paper cup while grilling it ~ They have posted that they do not grill everything for you, but we came just after opening when it was a little quiet, so a staff member grilled it for us!

Ah... the visuals are seriously legendary, right? ㅜ Since it is frozen pork belly, it cooked quickly, making it easy to wrap and eat right away. Best of all, it was savory and clean-tasting with no off smell, so it did not feel heavy ~ Add salt and pepper to your taste!

I ate it in total bliss, like Giyeong with his bananas... insanely delicious (p)

Extra wrap vegetables and kimchi stew

When you enjoy frozen pork belly like this, the ssam vegetables for wraps disappear in no time, but the staff thoughtfully brought us more right away haha. After eating our fill for quite a while, we added a bowl of rice each with kimchi stew.. The kimchi stew was also movingly delicious ㅜ If you have no particular menu or restaurant in mind, how about pork belly—the familiar flavor we all know, but a national favorite that is delicious anytime?
