Seongsu restaurant for omelet rice and perilla pasta: Seongsu Darak
In short
Seongsu Darak is a Western-style restaurant tucked into an alley in Seongsu-dong, Seongdong, Seoul. I tried the 17,000 won omelet rice, 19,000 won beef brisket perilla pasta, and 12,000 won katsu sando, and every dish exceeded expectations. Verdict: a place I would happily revisit for a Seongsu date meal.

While leisurely exploring Seongsu on a weekday afternoon, I visited Seongsu Darak (성수다락), a place that has been consistently loved as a date spot and pasta restaurant in Seongsu-dong, full of Instagram-worthy vibes and delicious food!

Seongsu Darak's alley entrance and second-floor space
Seongsu Darak is tucked deep inside one of Seongsu-dong's hot-spot alleys~ It's lovely for wandering around all the little corners of the alley!

The entrance is uniquely designed as though you are climbing into an attic, with a stylish building exterior. I thought it might have been difficult to find the door if I had not read other blog posts first, haha. Thankfully, there are clear instructions at the entrance telling you to come in~

Open the attic-like door and there is a staircase leading up to the second floor. The door is low when you enter, so be careful not to bump your head~~~ haha

The second-floor space was on the small side. With white-and-wood interiors and a window seat filled with natural light, the atmosphere was so nice, haha. Even though I visited after 2 p.m., there were quite a few people there? Haha. I got the feeling the weekend wait might be long? Haha.

What I ordered at Seongsu Darak
I am sharing the menu just for reference~ Everything looked so delicious that I had a hard time deciding what to get.
- Darak Omelet Rice ₩17,000
- Beef Brisket Perilla Pasta ₩19,000
- Katsu Sando ₩12,000
- Pepsi Zero ₩3,500
This is what we ordered! Darak Omelet Rice is the signature here, so I thought we absolutely had to get one~!

You can use the self-service bar for water and wet wipes~~ I was so hungry that the wait for the food was hard to bear, haha.

Our food arrived! We had a table for two, but the plates filled it right up.

Just looking at it, it all looked so delicious that my mouth was watering~ The food arrived neatly arranged on pretty plates, ready to eat!! Haha.
Cutting into the signature Darak Omelet Rice
Seongsu Darak's signature Darak Omelet Rice~~~~~ It was a perfect plate of European-style fried rice, a soft Japanese-style omelet, and house-made sauce~~ haha.

The staff even gave us time to take photos and waited so we could film a video, haha. At last, it was time for the cutting ceremony! When the fluffy omelet was cut beautifully, the egg flowed right out, and it looked so soft, haha.

The egg looked soft, but how would it taste? Haha.

I scooped up the egg and fried rice together for a bite~~ It went so well with the sauce, and the soft egg wrapped everything up beautifully—it was so, so good~~ Definitely try the signature dish! Haha.

The nutty pairing in beef brisket perilla pasta
Next was the beef brisket perilla pasta. It is an oil pasta topped with thinly sliced beef brisket, perilla seed powder, and perilla leaves~~ The aroma was no joke!! Haha.

It looked so delicious too, and the nutty scent of perilla along with the aroma of perilla leaves made it seem like it would be amazing!

I popped the egg yolk and mixed it thoroughly so the sauce, pasta, beef brisket, and perilla would all come together!

Then I twirled it around my fork and took a big bite~~ The oily richness and seasoning of the pasta were just right, and the nutty beef brisket and perilla, plus the sweetness of the cabbage, all worked so well together. It was my first time trying it, and we were both too busy slurping it up because it was so good..! Haha.

Katsu sando with coleslaw
Next was the katsu sando, a sandwich made with thick tonkatsu (breaded pork cutlet) and bread~~~ You can top it with coleslaw to cut through the richness!

I worried it might be too rich, but it was so crisp and clean-tasting that the thought never even crossed my mind! The pork cutlet was incredibly thick and crispy!

And with the coleslaw on top, it became even fresher and more special! I think this could count as a full dish rather than just a side!
I ate without huge expectations, but every dish was so delicious that we kept saying how good it was as we ate...! It is a place where we promised to come back next time. I recommend Seongsu Darak for a Seongsu date meal~~!
