I recently discovered tarot cards. I had only ever had readings from professionals or tried them online for fun once in a while. Then I learned about oracle cards and decided to buy a deck this time.

Tarot has a fixed structure of 78 cards, while oracle decks vary in both number and content, and are built around particular themes or energies. There are decks covering all kinds of themes, such as love, healing, intuition, and angels.

How a beginner used oracle cards

That is why these were tarot-style cards that even a beginner could use easily. The cards also carry positive meanings, so they gave me comfort and hope. The process was so simple that even a beginner like me could have a lot of fun with these oracle cards.

The process is very simple. First comes card cleansing, a cleansing step before using new cards. It can mean putting your own energy into the cards, and methods include meditating or holding the cards in your hands. I simply said something like a prayer.

Then you set your question. I heard it is important to make the question clear at this point. For example, it is good to ask something specific, such as, “What is today’s message?” or “What should I do in this situation?”

Next, think about your question while shuffling the cards. When you intuitively feel that you have shuffled enough, you can stop. When choosing cards, intuitively draw one or several, check the messages, then look carefully at the pictures and messages and interpret them for your own situation—that’s it. You can find an answer to your question through the image, colors, and message on the cards you draw. They say it is important to trust your intuition as you interpret them. So easy, right?
