Espresso bar, Songdo outlet: nutty Americano & grapefruit ade, Wunder

The weather has been so nice lately that every weekend I wonder where to go! Not long ago I went shopping and stopped by Wunder Coffee Bar Hyundai Premium Outlet Songdo Branch, the café at Songhyeon-a (the Songdo outlet). After walking around so much my sugar had totally crashed, and while looking for a café I found an espresso bar in the basement food square that was exactly my taste. It's already famous by word of mouth for its cream lattes, so here's my visit with photos!

Where is Wunder Coffee Bar in Songdo, and what's it like?

Wunder Coffee Bar Hyundai Premium Outlet Songdo Branch is in the B1 food square of the outlet and is open daily from 10:30 to 21:00. Walking through the basement food square, its clean, modern exterior catches your eye. The warm wood-tone interior and open bar layout give it a real espresso bar feel. It's a perfect place to sit for a moment, catch your breath and have a coffee between shopping!

For the lattes topped with ice cream, you can choose the ice cream flavor yourself from hojicha (roasted green tea), vanilla, or a hojicha + vanilla mix, which is a huge plus.

From the classic Cream Matcha to the new Cream Ube (purple sweet potato) with its dazzling color, and Cream Chocolate with its rich sweetness! If you love cream drinks, you can't just walk past, right? There's also the trendy dessert combo of kaimak (clotted cream) + honey + white ciabatta (₩9,500)! I think it'd be great as a brunch-style bite when you get peckish while shopping.

From the zesty citrus-grapefruit juice to the soft serve with a choco shell, and the Dwaeji Bar ice cream, a reinterpretation of the nostalgic Dwaeji Bar popsicle, you can see it all easily on the posters.

Coffee beans for sale and milk options

Wunder Coffee Bar Songdo also sells home-café bean packages (Noche blend / Maron decaf blend)! And true to its latte reputation, it uses nutty, rich Amazing Oat Barista milk. For just ₩1,000 more you can switch to decaf, oat milk or lactose-free milk, so even people with lactose intolerance can enjoy it without worry!

What we ordered at Wunder Coffee Bar

At Wunder Coffee Bar Songdo we ordered a grapefruit orange ade, two iced Americanos and a Wunder Gato. Ta-da! All our drinks are finally here ✨ From the left: the zesty grapefruit orange ade, two iced Americanos that look refreshing just sitting there, and the Wunder Gato, the ultimate in looks! The leafy green plants behind and the burgundy cup holders matched so well that I quickly snapped a group shot before digging in.

Is the iced Americano at Wunder Coffee Bar acidic?

The iced Americano at Wunder Coffee Bar had no acidity and tasted nutty and clean. First up is the basic of basics, the iced Americano 🥤☕️ The look, with a slight layer of crema, already passed, and right from the first sip I thought, wow, they really use good beans here! It isn't burnt or overly bitter, and a clean yet weighty nuttiness fills your mouth, which was exactly my style. If you like nutty, clean coffee with no acidity, you'll definitely be satisfied!

What does the signature Wunder Gato (affogato) taste like?

Wunder Gato is Wunder Coffee Bar's signature (₩7,500): soft serve and cinnamon powder on top of strong espresso. The highlight of the day! 🍦☕️ Isn't that fluffy, plump soft serve too cute? The scent of cinnamon powder sprinkled on top spread gently and got my hopes all the way up before I even took a bite 👀

Up close, you can see the chewy ice cream and the richness of the espresso. The ice cream was the vanilla we picked, and it wasn't just light soft serve, it was dense and rich like gelato. The bitter shot of espresso meeting sweet ice cream is, quite simply, a can't-go-wrong combo!

Grapefruit orange ade: a pick for non-coffee drinkers?

The grapefruit orange ade was ordered by my friend who doesn't drink coffee, and it was refreshing without tasting artificially sweet. 🍊🍹 Grapefruit and orange pulp is generously layered at the bottom, and a dried orange chip sits on top, so it looked refreshing from the start. The grapefruit's signature bitterness and the orange's sweet tang blended with the sparkling water in a golden ratio, and it went down easily. I highly recommend it when you want to refresh your mouth!

The coffee beans at Wunder Coffee Bar Songdo are so good that even basics like the Americano are tasty, and from the signature Wunder Gato with ice cream to the refreshing ade, nothing on the menu lets you down. If you're shopping at the Hyundai outlet in Songdo, definitely recharge your sugar with this combo at Wunder Coffee Bar in the food square! Highly recommended 👍
