Hoegi-dong galbitang lunch with public parking: Hoegi Wang Galbitang

I was near Hoegi Station trying to decide what to eat for lunch, and ended up at [Hoegi Wang Galbitang]! I was genuinely hungry that day and wanted something filling, so I went with galbitang (short rib soup) haha. Bottom line first: it turned out even tastier and more filling than I expected!! Especially if you love galbitang, this is a place worth checking out~!

How to get there from Hoegi Station, and where to park

Hoegi Wang Galbitang is about a 6-minute walk from Hoegi Station (Line 1, Gyeongui-Jungang Line) Exit 1!

We drove and parked at a nearby public parking lot! It's a 3-minute walk from the Hoegi-dong public parking lot!

Inside Hoegi Wang Galbitang and its solo-diner seats

The Hoegi Wang Galbitang space was bigger and cleaner than I expected!

When I went during lunchtime, there were so many customers! There were groups from nearby offices as well as quite a few solo diners.

There was a separate row of window-side single seats, and they even had phone stands set up!! That little touch was so nice~haha

The restroom is in an outdoor space connected from inside the restaurant, and it's separated by men's/women's!

Side dishes and the free self-serve corner

The basic side dishes are napa cabbage kimchi, seokbakji (radish kimchi), raw onion, chili peppers, and ssamjang.

They apparently make their own seokbakji here! Maybe that's why it was so crunchy and tasty that I kept eating it alongside the galbitang!haha

And the self-serve corner has rice and side dishes, plus 17-grain misugaru (roasted grain drink) and barley gangjeong (crispy sweet snack)!! Rice is unlimited, and the misugaru and gangjeong are free too~ Wait, I came for galbitang and they're giving me snacks and dessert too? First time seeing that~haha

The barley gangjeong was crispy and nutty, and the misugaru had a deep, toasty grain flavor that was really good. I actually drank two cups of misugaru because it was so tasty,,! hehe

Energy-boosting galbitang with two ribs, 16,000 won

The galbitang has finally arrived!!

Whoa... the size of the ribs catches your eye first! There were two whole big ribs!! And it was topped with plenty of scallion and egg garnish, so the visuals were on point from the start~~

The meat came off easily with just a slight tug of the chopsticks — it was cooked perfectly — and the broth was refreshing and clean! It wasn't too intense, so it was great for mixing with rice too. There were also plenty of glass noodles inside, and eating them together with the meat made it even tastier~!

Aronsatae galbitang loaded with beef shank, 19,000 won

And true to its name, this one is really loaded with meat!! With a big rib plus aronsatae (beef shank) on top, it looked hearty from the moment it arrived!

The aronsatae wasn't tough at all — it was tender, and dipping it into the soy sauce and mustard sauce was so tasty! This dish also has bean sprouts in it, which made the broth taste even more refreshing!

The crunchy texture of the bean sprouts gave it a different charm from the regular galbitang~ There's plenty of glass noodles here too, so between the meat, noodles, and broth, I ended up completely full!haha

Verdict: is Hoegi Wang Galbitang worth it for lunch?

Overall, after eating, I thought, "Ah, I really had a hearty meal~!" Big ribs, tender meat, plenty of glass noodles, and a broth that was refreshing and clean — very satisfying!

Especially with unlimited rice refills plus free barley gangjeong and misugaru, it felt like they took care of both the meal and dessert haha

If you're near Hoegi Station looking for a hearty meal, near Kyung Hee University trying to decide on Korean food, or looking for good restaurants in Hwigyeong-dong for lunch, this place is worth stopping by! Especially recommended if you love galbitang, are looking for a good spot to eat solo, or want a hot, filling lunch!
