Daecheon Brewery Craft Beer Brewery & Pizza Pub is a brewery and pizza pub in Boryeong, Chungnam, that makes local craft beer with Boryeong mud. On a weekday visit we ordered Daecheon Golden Ale, a cola, a spicy Diablo shrimp pizza and a gorgonzola pizza with no heat, so the adults enjoyed pizza and beer while the son ate the cheese pizza. About 5 minutes by car from Daecheon Beach, Daecheon Brewery is a good stop for a meal and souvenirs on a Daecheon trip.

For a filling lunch near Hyundai Premium Outlet, Choi Dining is a good choice.

Dunsan-dong gukbap spot for Chobok, ₩11,000 pork bone soup: Hanppong

Hanppong (한뽕) is a newly opened gukbap and gamjatang restaurant in Dunsan-dong, Seo-gu, Daejeon, near Daejeon City Hall. On the evening of Chobok, the first of Korea's summer stamina-food days, the blogger parked at City Hall and ate Hanppong's 11,000 won mountain-piled pork bone soup and mountain-piled galbitang. The bones were loaded with meat, and even the silbi kimchi from the self-serve bar was delicious. Hanppong is a good fit for a filling, affordable stamina meal in Dunsan-dong.

Autumn terrace café in Sutonggol, Daejeon: milk ice cream at Luonto

Luonto Sutonggol Branch (루온토 수통골점) is a large roastery café in Sutonggol, Yuseong, Daejeon, known for its chimney bread (a spiral, trdelník-style pastry). On a return visit for that chimney bread, the writer sat on the 2nd-floor outdoor seats in the autumn breeze with plain chimney bread, a nutty Luonto Blend Americano, a Jeju matcha latte and Sangha Farm milk ice cream. Luonto Sutonggol Branch's chimney bread was still delicious, and the drinks and ice cream made it a satisfying café stop for an outing to Sutonggol.

Sejong Indian restaurant: lamb korma lunch with Mom at Bombay Brew

Bombay Brew is an Indian restaurant on the 2nd floor of a building near the Saetteum Village apartments in Saerom-dong, Sejong, where Indian chefs do the cooking. On a weekday lunch with her mom, the writer ordered one set menu for one person plus a single lamb korma, and both the lamb korma and the prawn masala were mild on spice and suited Korean tastes. Verdict: at Bombay Brew, dip the big naan in the curry rather than eating it over the turmeric rice.

Jungmun Godeungeo Ssam-bap (중문고등어쌈밥) is a Korean restaurant on Iljuseo-ro in Seogwipo, Jeju, with up to 480 seats and a 3,500-pyeong outdoor garden where roses bloom. Handam Guksu Gwakji Aewol Branch is a pork noodle and bibim noodle restaurant facing Handam Beach in Aewol-eup, Jeju. The writer arrived before 12 noon on a weekday, was 4th in the queue, and shared a double-portion bone broth pork noodle soup, dongchimi bibim noodles (spicy mixed noodles with radish water kimchi) and handmade pork tteokgalbi (grilled patties) with family; the air-cooled outdoor waiting seats and fast table turnover kept the wait short. With summery dongchimi bibim noodles and tteokgalbi that the kid happily ate, Handam Guksu makes a satisfying family lunch in Aewol.
