Noryangjin ramen shop lunch sets with mom: extra broth at Chome

I'm bringing you a review of Chome, a ramen restaurant near Noryangjin! You know there's really no such thing as an atmospheric restaurant in Noryangjin, right.. but I found Chome, where the prices match Noryangjin's budget-friendly rates while the taste and vibe feel exactly like Japan — perfect for a date too!

Thanks to the interior dripping with Japanese sensibility, it's a Noryangjin ramen spot with such good atmosphere you'd wonder if a place like this really existed here. I came and had a variety of lunch-only sets — the rich cho ramen, the spicy karai ramen, and colorful Japanese side dishes!

Chome Noryangjin location, parking, hours

Chome is 470m from Noryangjin Station Exit 3, at 1F, 10 Manyang-ro 14-gil, Dongjak-gu, Seoul, South Korea. There's no parking, and it's open daily 11:00–21:00 with last order at 20:15.

Is Chome's atmosphere good for a date?

Chome sits inside a Noryangjin alley, and the pretty exterior caught my eye right away! There are several posters out front and waiting seats too.

Stepping inside, the cute little props and posters made it feel like I was traveling in Japan! Overall the space was super clean and comfortable, and the tables were spaced unusually wide for Noryangjin — I thought it'd be perfect for a date.

Of course, Chome also has plenty of solo seats, so it's great for eating alone too!

What we ordered from Chome's lunch-only sets

From Chome's lunch-only set menu, we ordered the cho ramen + gyoza set and the karai ramen + futomaki set. As sides, we piled on karai chicken and 2pc salmon futomaki.

There were so many delicious-looking side dishes that we ordered a wide variety, so look forward to the review, hehe.

On the table was a guide titled 'How to Enjoy Chome Ramen,' kindly explaining how to eat regular ramen, mazesoba, and tsukemen respectively.

What's on the self-serve banchan bar?

Chome's self-serve bar has three crunchy banchan (side dishes): pickled radish, kimchi, and house-made pickled mustard leaf. Ramen can get a little greasy as you eat, so these side dishes were so welcome!

They also kept the little side plates neat and dust-covered for us, which was so nice. It went so well eaten alongside the ramen~~ A ramen place that gives you kimchi is the best.

1,000-won mini beer

Among Chome's drink menu, the mini beer is just 1,000 won. The mini beer is so cute haha. 1,000 won of happiness! It was just the right amount to have with ramen at lunch!

Comparing the taste: cho ramen vs. karai ramen

The two main ramens — karai ramen in front, cho ramen behind. Note: we added an extra half soft-boiled egg, so there are 2 in total!

Cho ramen: the classic taste, rich yet clean

Chome's cho ramen has a deep, richly steeped broth with a savory feel! The noodles were nice and springy with good texture, and the soft-boiled egg was cooked just right, with a moist yolk. It was rich yet clean — the classic definition of ramen.

Karai ramen: a sharp hangover-curing ramen with cheongyang chili

Chome's karai ramen is a spicy hangover-curing ramen. It's loaded with cheongyang chili, but it's not aggressively spicy — rather, a sharp kick added on top of a hearty broth base!

Can you get more broth if it's too salty?

At Chome, you can add extra broth using the tableside pad! My mom tends to eat food on the milder side, so I was a bit worried, but having this option was so, so nice.

Salmon futomaki, karai chicken, and gyoza side dish review

Chome's salmon futomaki is packed generously with salmon. It looked delicious from the moment you saw it.

With an overwhelming size that fills your mouth in one bite, the fresh ingredients came together harmoniously, savory and perfect with the ramen~

Next up is the spicy karai chicken. The crispy fried chicken was really tender. It wasn't as spicy as I expected, so you can eat it comfortably! Paired with the cold mini beer, it was the best..

Chome's gyoza (Japanese-style dumplings) had a crispy outside and moist inside — perfectly fried Japanese gyoza~ A perfect match with the ramen.

Who would we recommend Noryangjin's Chome to

With an atmosphere that feels like a trip to Japan, plus rich cho ramen, sharp karai ramen, futomaki, gyoza, karai chicken, and even a cute 1,000-won mini beer!! The food quality is excellent and the vibe is great, so I'd recommend Chome to anyone looking for a special date spot near Noryangjin or a proper Japanese ramen restaurant.
