Craft studio by Eungam Station: pink stone jesmonite clock, Unieresin

In short

Unieresin (유니레진) is a resin and jesmonite one-day class studio in Eunpyeong, Seoul, between Eungam Station and Saejeol Station. The writer took the 45,000-won, roughly 2-hour jesmonite clock class at Unieresin and made a desk clock with a baby pink frame, a red clock face and pink stones. Choosing colors and textures is the highlight, and the Unieresin class is a good one-day activity in Eunpyeong for couples, friends or kids.

I went to Unieresin (유니레진), a craft studio near Saejeol Station in Eunpyeong, and made a clock object and a business card holder! So pretty, right? haha

Where is Unieresin, and is there parking?

Unieresin is a studio on Eungam-ro 20-gil, between Eungam Station and Saejeol Station in Eunpyeong. There is parking for 1 car in front of the shop. The exterior already has a cute, cozy feel.

What can you make in a Unieresin one-day class?

Everything on display inside Unieresin can be made in a one-day class. Once I walked in, I was amazed by how many different pieces there were.

The soap tray is so cute... Making one with a kid and keeping it at home would be adorable..

You can also make candle holders with dried flowers inside.

They can also be made as mini cups or mugs. When you receive flowers, you usually end up throwing them all away, which feels wasteful. Turning them into an object like this means you can keep them for a long time, and it's meaningful. Flowers from a special day would be even better, right? I recommend making one from a wedding bouquet~~

You can make mood lamps too, in an arch shape, a gat (traditional Korean hat) shape or a cherry blossom shape. I hear the gat has become well known abroad lately thanks to KPop Demon Hunters, so it would make a great gift for a foreign friend.

Jesmonite clock class: price and time

Unieresin's jesmonite clock class costs ₩45,000 and takes about 2 hours. This clock class is the one I took.

  • Class: jesmonite clock object
  • Duration: about 2 hours
  • Price: ₩45,000
Introduction to the jesmonite clock object class

There are 3 clock designs in total.

I picked the middle one because the design with a stand in the center was so cute. At first I thought I'd only be making the clock's rim, but in this class you make everything yourself, from the frame to the stand to the clock face.

How to make a jesmonite clock

1. Choose your colors and extra materials

Jesmonite is an eco-friendly resin material made by mixing a liquid and a powder. You add a special pigment to get the color you want.

You can also add extras like pearl, terrazzo chips and colored stones to create texture. There were sooo many options that I agonized over it haha

Traces of deliberating over clock color combinations

Traces of my agonizing.. haha After really long deliberation, I settled on baby pink, a red clock face, and pink stones as the extra material. I took so long that the owner could have found it frustrating, but she gave me plenty of time and kept suggesting color combinations and extra materials. So sweet...

2. Weigh and mix the liquid and powder

You just pour the amounts the owner tells you while watching the scale, so it's not difficult~ Then I stirred and stirred.

3. Pour into the mold and let it set

After mixing well, you slowly pour it into the mold. You pop the air bubbles too.

4. Remove the mold and it's done

After letting it set for about 30 minutes, I carefully removed the mold, and it came out so clean without a single bubble. I was really proud~~

All the molds removed and the pieces put together! The vivid red body with the pink stones subtly showing along the edge, I loved it~~

How do you finish the jesmonite clock at home?

You take the jesmonite clock made at Unieresin home, let it harden for about another day, then assemble the clock, and that's when it's truly finished. It doesn't end here.

Sitting on my bedside table, it's pretty as an interior accessory, and it actually works as a clock, so it's very useful. What satisfied me most was that it isn't just a making experience: I chose the color and texture myself and made a one-of-a-kind object. The class took about 2 hours, and the time really flew by.

Who should you go to Unieresin with?

Unieresin is great for a couple's date, and I'd really recommend it as an Eunpyeong one-day class to do with friends or with kids too!
