In short

Raon Sik Tak Pangyo Branch is a newly opened Italian restaurant centred on wood-fired pizza, on the Baekhyeon-dong café street in Seongnam, Gyeonggi. At a floor-to-ceiling window seat, the writer ordered Raon Sik Tak's best-selling wood-fired pizza, the Cotto e Ricotta (27,000 won), with a Zero Coke: a white-sauce pizza topped with house-made cotto ham, ricotta and provolone. For a Bundang resident who has tried many Italian restaurants in Pangyo, Raon Sik Tak Pangyo is a place that never disappoints.

Today's post is about Raon Sik Tak, a wood-fired pizza spot that recently opened in Baekhyeon-dong, Pangyo. It's an Italian restaurant where you can enjoy wood-fired pizza, pasta and even steak, but the Cotto e Ricotta I had this time was just so good.

Atmosphere and the window seats

The wood-tone interior and warm lighting create a cozy mood, making it a great spot for a date or a meal with someone special. Having lived in Bundang and visited many Italian restaurants in Pangyo, this is one of the rare places that satisfies me every single time.

Wood-fired pizza oven installed inside the restaurant

There's a wood-fired oven right in the restaurant, so you can watch the pizzas being baked in person. The moment you walk in, the faint smoky oven scent stirs up your appetite.

Kitchen of Raon Sik Tak Pangyo Branch visible from outside

It's not quite an open kitchen, but the kitchen was clearly visible, and it looked very clean.

Window seat with open floor-to-ceiling glass view

I sat at a window seat, and since it's floor-to-ceiling glass, the sense of openness is really nice.

Ordering the Cotto e Ricotta, ₩27,000

Here's the menu. Since I came specifically craving wood-fired pizza, I ordered the best-selling one among the wood-fired pizzas, Cotto e Ricotta (₩27,000).

After ordering, I got to watch the pizza being made, and I could clearly see it being baked in the wood-fired oven, which was fascinating.

I also ordered a Zero Coke, and they thoughtfully brought it with a cup of ice too.

How did the Cotto e Ricotta taste

Here's the pizza, finally out: Cotto e Ricotta. It's a pizza made with house-made cotto ham, ricotta cheese, provolone cheese, white sauce, and truffle oil.

Wood-fired dough with air bubbles puffed up at the edge

The wood-fired dough

The wood-fired dough was especially delicious! The crust is slightly crispy on the outside while staying chewy and alive on the inside, that texture unique to wood-fired pizza was perfect. The little air bubbles puffing up around the edge of the dough are proof it was properly baked in a wood oven!

Ricotta and provolone cheese

Ricotta cheese is known for its nutty, creamy flavor, and the ricotta here is especially fresh and moist. With provolone cheese added on top, you can feel the layers of cheese in every bite. The basil on top also cut through the richness.

A slice of pizza piled high with cotto ham

House-made cotto ham

Look at how much ham there is on the slice I pulled out — that's the cotto ham. Since it's made in-house, the taste and texture are different from store-bought ham. It has a deep, soft, savory flavor and is sliced thin over the pizza. With a slight sheen from being baked in the wood oven, it looks delicious just to look at!

White sauce base and tips for eating

The base is a white sauce, and unlike a tomato sauce pizza, a white sauce base makes the whole thing creamy and nutty at its core! It's not heavy or greasy but light with depth, so you don't get tired of it from first bite to last. Wood-fired pizza tastes best eaten right when it comes out. Once it cools, the dough can get soggy, so eat it as soon as possible if you can. Adding a little olive oil or pepper is also delicious.

A Bundang resident's overall verdict

As a Bundang resident who's been to many wood-fired pizza spots in Pangyo, Raon Sik Tak is a place that never disappoints, no matter how many times I go haha. They use proper Italian ingredients and bake everything in a wood-fired oven, so the fundamentals are solid, meaning you really can't go wrong with any menu item. The Cotto e Ricotta I had this time was especially memorable, and I think I'll order it again on my next visit. If you're looking for an Italian restaurant in Pangyo, definitely give Raon Sik Tak Pangyo Branch a try.
