Starfield Suwon café with a ₩500 decaf upgrade: Jeong Jiyeong Coffee

My wife wouldn't stop praising Jeong Jiyeong Coffee in Haenggung-dong last time, so~ much haha.

So this time, while shopping at Starfield, which I visit often, I went to meet Jeong Jiyeong Coffee Roasters again. Living up to the hype, everything from the Americano to the desserts was great, making it a nice Suwon Starfield spot to rest during shopping.

Where is the café inside Starfield Suwon?

Jeong Jiyeong Coffee Roasters Starfield Suwon Branch sits on the 2nd floor of Starfield Suwon. Compared to the original Haenggung branch, it felt more open and casual. Being a local coffee brand that started in Suwon, it fit right in with Suwon's Starfield. I also liked that you can stop by without straying far off your shopping route when a coffee craving hits.

What's on the menu?

Looking over the menu, there was a wide range of coffee, from espresso and Americano to lattes and hand-drip. Drinks like chocolate and milk tea were also available. Cookies and baked snacks to go with coffee were on display, and the showcase had slice cakes and other desserts too.

Coffee beans and Suwon-i goods on display

True to the 'Roasters' name, one side of the shop had a variety of beans on display. There were several origins like Guatemala, Ethiopia, Kenya, and Colombia in bean or drip bag form, which was fun to browse. Merch featuring Suwon-i, the character made by Suwon City, also caught my eye. Showing off the color of a local Suwon brand is what sets Jeong Jiyeong Coffee apart.

Is there enough seating?

Heading further inside, there was more seating than I expected, and it felt well arranged. That said, since it's a shop inside Starfield, seats probably fill up fast on weekends or during meal times. But given how Starfield is laid out, there are rest spots scattered throughout even if the shop itself is full, so takeout works well too.

Dark roast Americano and the 500-won decaf upgrade

We ordered a regular coffee and a decaf coffee. Each cup was ₩5,500, and switching one to decaf added ₩500. The dark roast Americano had that deep, nutty richness typical of dark-roasted beans. The decaf Americano wasn't overly bitter, so it could be a good alternative for anyone who finds caffeine hard on the stomach.

How does the 7,000-won Lamington taste?

We ordered a dessert called a Lamington alongside the coffee. It costs ₩7,000, and the soft cake sponge was coated on the outside with chocolate and coconut powder. The sweet coconut coating paired with the soft sponge went really well with the Americano. It wasn't overly sweet and had a strong nutty flavor, making it good for adults and kids to share.

Is Jeong Jiyeong Coffee Roasters worth a shopping break?

Jeong Jiyeong Coffee's Suwon Starfield branch is a place where you can enjoy a local brand that started in Haenggung-dong right inside Starfield. Along with a wide range of coffee and beans, there are distinctive desserts like cookies, cakes, and Lamingtons. Seating was more plentiful than expected, and takeout is easy when there's no room, making it a good café to stop by while shopping. If you're shopping at Suwon Starfield and craving coffee and something sweet, I'd recommend Jeong Jiyeong Coffee.
