Baby-friendly Korean BBQ in Gongdeok with a high chair: Moyeon Mapo

My baby caught a cold, ugh ㅠㅠ so we went to the pediatrician in the morning. By the time we finished, it was lunchtime, and I felt like we should eat something hearty like meat that day, so we headed to Moyeon Mapo with the baby :)

Why Moyeon Mapo works with a baby: private rooms and valet parking

I was looking for a good hanwoo (Korean beef) place around Mapo and found Moyeon Mapo, and since it has private rooms, I thought it would work well for eating with the baby. We went during lunch hour, so of course it was busy, and we waited about 30 minutes before getting seated. Parking was valet, which was super convenient — moving around with a baby makes parking a bit of a hassle too haha. It was great to just hand off the car and go right in.

What the private rooms at Moyeon Mapo are like

Moyeon has private-room seating, so the meal felt quite comfortable. When I mentioned we had a baby, they had a baby chair and baby tableware ready ahead of time.

Bringing a baby to a BBQ restaurant means there's a lot to juggle, so having all this prepared for us made things definitely easier!

What comes with the hanwoo charcoal-grill pot rice lunch set?

What we ordered was the lunch special hanwoo charcoal-grilled marinated beef pot rice set for two.

It's not just meat that comes out — the whole table setting is arranged neatly overall. Several side dishes that go well with rice come out too, nice to pair one by one while eating the meat. And the wrap greens came out generously too, so you can enjoy the meat in various ways!

The hanwoo looked high quality, and above all, a staff member grills the meat directly over the charcoal! Grilling meat yourself while also looking after a baby can get chaotic, so having them grill it for us made the meal so much easier!

Once the meat is cooked through, they plate it nicely for eating, with chive salad placed alongside the meat — a bite of hanwoo with the chive salad was delicious.

Grilled over charcoal, there's a subtle smoky aroma, and the seasoning isn't too intense, so it went really well with rice. The meat was also on the tender side, which made it even tastier!

The pot rice and the Pyongyang naengmyeon

And I really liked the pot rice. When I opened the pot, the rice was glossy and shiny, and wrapping it in the seaweed that came with it was heavenly!

I gave the baby a little bit of the rice too, and she ate it well~! Eating the pot rice along with the meat made it feel like a properly satisfying lunch.

You can't skip naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles) while eating meat, so we also ordered one Pyongyang naengmyeon. It has a mild flavor with a subtle savory depth. It's on the clean and light side, so it paired well with the meat!

Worth returning to for a family gathering

This time we had the lunch special, which came with hanwoo charcoal-grilled marinated beef and pot rice together, and since they grilled the meat for us, it was an easy, comfortable meal. Above all, the private room made it great to visit with a baby, and having the baby chair and tableware prepared made it even more comfortable. Getting hanwoo and pot rice at this price with such friendly service left me quite satisfied! I thought it'd be nice to come back next time with the whole family to properly enjoy the hanwoo BBQ haha.
