Paju dumpling spot: spicy hot pot & 5 puffed snacks, Bubyeokjeong
In short
Bubyeokjeong Pyeongyang Mandu (부벽정평양만두) Paju Book City is a Pyeongyang-style dumpling restaurant on Jimok-ro in Paju, Gyeonggi, serving mandu soup, mandu hot pot and Pyeongyang cold noodles. On a chilly day, lunch at Bubyeokjeong Pyeongyang Mandu was a spicy-broth mandu hot pot with a mung bean pancake, finished with kalguksu (knife-cut noodles) and a dessert of 5 kinds of puffed grain snacks and misutgaru (roasted grain drink), before heading on to a large café at Simhaksan. Bubyeokjeong Pyeongyang Mandu is an easy Paju hot pot stop, with a spicy but not harsh broth, light dumpling filling and parking roomy enough for beginner drivers.

What is Bubyeokjeong Pyeongyang Mandu in Paju like?
Bubyeokjeong Pyeongyang Mandu (부벽정평양만두) is a dumpling place on Jimok-ro in Paju where you can enjoy mandu soup, mandu hot pot and more, built around Pyeongyang-style mandu (dumplings). Maybe because the weather was getting colder, I was craving something hot and spicy. I was looking for a warm, filling meal in Paju, so I dropped by Bubyeokjeong Pyeongyang Mandu!

How are the location and parking?
Bubyeokjeong Pyeongyang Mandu is near Paju Book City, Heyri Art Village and Simhaksan, so the location is really good. After lunch here, we went on to a big café on Simhaksan. There's also a large parking area for people coming by car, so even a beginner driver like me can come without worrying 😁

Menu and review event at Bubyeokjeong Pyeongyang Mandu
The menu has all kinds of dishes made with mandu, plus Pyeongyang naengmyeon (cold noodles)! They also sell kids' mandu soup, so it looks like a good place to come with children.
⭐️The first 10 teams who join the review event get a free mung bean pancake (nokdu bindaetteok)⭐️. The mung bean pancake is seriously delicious, so give it a try ♡

Self-service corner and watching the mandu being made
The self-service corner had tableware for little kids, plus tongs, ladles and scissors. The side dishes and broth are there too, so you can help yourself anytime, and I ate as much yuja danmuji (yuja-flavored pickled radish) as I wanted.. haha. That yuja pickled radish is really, really good!
Next to the self-service corner you can also watch the mandu being made! Seeing it right in front of you makes Bubyeokjeong Pyeongyang Mandu feel even more trustworthy. Instead of staring at a campfire, staring at dumplings being made is secretly kind of fun . . . ^_^..
How does the mung bean pancake taste?
The side dishes and the mung bean pancake came out first. Honestly, I'm not really a mung bean pancake person, but the one at Bubyeokjeong Pyeongyang Mandu is really good! I would have regretted not trying it 🥹

What comes in the mandu hot pot, and how does it taste?
What we ordered was the mandu hot pot (mandu jeongol). They brought plenty of vegetables and dumplings, so I ended up really full! The dumplings looked neat and appetizing. I wanted to buy just the dumplings to go and stock them at home to put in my cooking later.

Lots of vegetables 🥬 lots of dumplings 🥟 and kalguksu noodles to finish it off ♡ A place where you can have a proper meal!

There was a booklet on the table explaining how to enjoy Bubyeokjeong at its tastiest. Take a look and eat it even, even, even more deliciously :-) You can feel the sincerity in the food here.

The mandu hot pot bubbling away! I heard Pyeongyang-style mandu are generally big and mild in flavor. Check out the video too :)

Spicy broth: is the heat harsh?
The broth of the mandu hot pot at Bubyeokjeong Pyeongyang Mandu is spicy but not harsh, and the filling inside the dumplings is so light that you keep eating. The beef shank (arongsatae) is really tender and nutty too 😋 It was exactly the hot broth I wanted, so I loved it.

Kalguksu to finish
I was full, but I can't give up the kalguksu! Chewy noodles in a broth that's gotten thicker and even tastier, nothing beats it as a finish! From start to end I really enjoyed it, the mandu hot pot at Bubyeokjeong Pyeongyang Mandu is the best 😋

Can you buy packaged products too?
Bubyeokjeong Pyeongyang Mandu also sells packaged products that are easy to cook. Buying them and boiling them at home would be really nice too!

After-meal dessert corner: 5 kinds of puffed grain snacks and misutgaru
Bubyeokjeong Pyeongyang Mandu also has a dessert corner you can use after your meal. There were as many as 5 kinds of ppeongtwigi (puffed grain snacks), and you can enjoy nutty misutgaru (roasted grain drink) too, which was great for freshening up after eating. They were generous with dessert as well as the meal, so it was a really happy meal right to the end. You can feel that they think about their customers in these thoughtful details.
From the mandu hot pot to dessert, I was satisfied with Bubyeokjeong Pyeongyang Mandu, and it's a place I'd want to come back to whenever I crave a warm mandu hot pot in Paju. I recommend Bubyeokjeong Pyeongyang Mandu as a Paju restaurant. We plan to visit again too.
