Went on a Pocheon trip over the Liberation Day long weekend~

Pocheon Art Valley: walking up instead of riding the monorail
It drizzled on and off so it was a bit humid, but there was a nice breeze, so overall a good day for a trip! We got to Art Valley around noon. The parking lot had plenty of space, but the monorail line was pretty long. Didn't feel like waiting in line so we walked up 🚶🚶♀️🚶🚶♀️🚶🚶♀️

✨ The advantage of walking up instead of taking the monorail ✨ We arrived before the monorail crowd did, haha, so the café had no customers — perfect timing, right between the descending riders leaving and the ascending riders arriving, I guess.
Had a good look around and headed off~
How ordering and seating work at Pocheon Jeongyuk Sikdang
Had an early dinner at Pocheonjeongyuksikdang (포천정육식당), a great stop on the way back from Pocheon Art Valley!

Grab a table first, then pick whatever you want to eat from the showcase 🥩🥩🥩 🤑 Payment happens when you leave.

Each table has a simple partition, which makes the meal feel a bit more comfortable! Would recommend it for a family gathering spot in Pocheon~ 🧑🧑🧒🧒
How much is a hanwoo pack, and is there a table fee?

One pack = about 2 servings, and the average price is around ₩70,000–100,000 depending on the cut. The hanwoo (Korean beef) quality was excellent!!!
My husband and I shared one pack and it was exactly enough to fill us up~
The best thing about Pocheonjeongyuksikdang: no table setting fee! Order meat and the table setting comes as a service. Plus, dessert-type items get much cheaper once you order meat. Egg steam for ₩4,000 — order it right away! We also added a bowl of rice 🍚

Kimchi jjigae came out in a stone pot as a standard side dish, so we didn't order it separately. Loaded with kimchi, loaded with pork, and tofu too~ Finding such a generous butcher restaurant in Pocheon — lucky 🍀

We picked the ₩89,960 pack. Plenty for two.

There were also a bunch of celebrity autographs covering one wall, haha. A place with autographs like that just seems like it should taste even better, you know?
What comes with the meal at Pocheon Jeongyuk Sikdang
No table fee, but the number of side dishes is insane.
The cool mukbap (acorn jelly salad) is also complimentary~ This is like my nth trip to Pocheon, and I have no idea why I only found this place now, haha. Pocheon is famous for its idong galbi (marinated short ribs), but I hope this butcher restaurant gets just as famous too — it's genuinely delicious here.

Lettuce wraps and mushrooms to eat alongside the meat, plus rice cake, are all included in the standard spread~!
How the charcoal-grilled hanwoo tastes
Oiling up the grill first~

Pocheonjeongyuksikdang grills over charcoal, so it tastes even better. The charcoal aroma really soaks into the high-quality hanwoo — juicy, so both the texture and the aroma are great.

Ssamjang (dipping sauce) has such a strong flavor and smell, right? We wanted to taste only the hanwoo. Honestly, this meat is too good to dip in ssamjang. Dip it lightly in salt and wasabi, take a bite, fully enjoy the hanwoo flavor, then eat a grilled garlic clove...

Second great thing about Pocheonjeongyuksikdang: one pack contains several different cuts, so ordering just one pack lets you enjoy a variety of flavors!

Not sure which cut this was, but it was delicious 😋
...Looking at this photo makes my mouth water. Since it's grilled over charcoal, it cooks really fast. When that happens, lay a leafy green on the grill and put the meat on top — keeps it warm so you can eat slowly.
Bomb steamed egg for 4,000 won
Bomb egg steam (폭탄계란찜, ₩4,000)

Is Pocheon Jeongyuk Sikdang worth the trip?
- Meat quality = melts in your mouth
- Price = under ₩100,000 for two
- Cleanliness = very clean
- Service = very friendly
Everything about this place was satisfying, so I'd say 100% would visit again.
