1++ hanwoo by the cut near Pocheon IC: Pocheonjeongyuksikdang

In short

Pocheonjeongyuksikdang is a grade 1++ hanwoo (Korean beef) butcher-restaurant right beside Pocheon IC in Gunnae-myeon, Pocheon, Gyeonggi-do. Diners pick a pack of beef straight from the showcase — about 200–300g for two, ₩70,000 to just over ₩100,000 — and Pocheonjeongyuksikdang charges no table fee, bringing out side dishes and a pork kimchi jjigae (kimchi stew) that carried two bowls of rice, plus mul-naengmyeon (cold noodle soup) to finish. For a good-value hanwoo dinner on a Cheorwon or Pocheon Art Valley driving route, Pocheonjeongyuksikdang is an easy stop.

A Pocheon favorite for grade 1++ hanwoo with no table fee — Pocheonjeongyuksikdang, near Pocheon Art Valley

On the way home from Goseokjeong flower field in Cheorwon, I went looking for a good hanwoo (Korean beef) dinner spot in Pocheon and found this great-value place, Pocheonjeongyuksikdang (포천정육식당). Even though it's a butcher-restaurant, there's no separate table fee, and the basic side dishes come out neat and tidy. The interior is clean too, with group seating, so it seems like a solid pick for a family meal out or a group gathering — let me introduce it.

As soon as you exit Pocheon IC on the Guri-Pocheon Expressway and turn right, it's on the 1st floor of the first Golfzon Screen building on your right. It's right by the IC, so even first-time visitors can find it easily, and it's convenient to reach by car.

Wide view of Pocheonjeongyuksikdang's large parking lot

This Pocheon favorite sits right on the route between Cheorwon and Seoul, so it was perfect for stopping for dinner on the way back. The parking lot is huge and parking was really easy. It's also near Pocheon Art Valley, so it seems like a great pick for anyone traveling in Pocheon looking for good-value hanwoo.

Inside Pocheonjeongyuksikdang

Meat showcase and butcher counter at the entrance

Walking in, the meat showcase and butcher counter by the entrance are the first thing that catches your eye,

Black-toned interior of the Pocheonjeongyuksikdang dining hall

and the sleek, chic black-toned interior was striking — different from your typical butcher-restaurant, with a clean, polished vibe overall. There's a coffee machine, ice maker, and plum tea set up for after your meal, so you can easily grab a simple dessert.

Tables divided by partitions and the dessert station

Even though we visited during an early dinner slot, there were quite a few tables of families out with their parents, and there were baby chairs ready, so it seemed comfortable to visit with a baby too.

I also liked that the space isn't one fully open hall — it's divided by tall partitions, so you don't feel crammed next to the next table, making for a more comfortable meal. There's a golf course nearby, so there were a lot of autographed photos from golfers on the walls. Can't resist hanwoo after a workout, haha.

Table set with no table fee and a call buzzer

This Pocheon favorite doesn't charge a separate table fee, and you just press the buzzer for any side dishes you need.

Picking meat from the showcase: what does 1++ hanwoo cost?

At Pocheonjeongyuksikdang, you grab a table first, then head to the showcase to pick your meat and cut. One pack was about 200–300g, enough for two people, and prices ranged from ₩70,000 to just over ₩100,000 depending on weight and cut.

They have both hanwoo (Korean beef) and hanwoo pork, and the hanwoo's deep red color made it look really high quality.

You pick the meat from the showcase, and there's a separate menu board for rice dishes, dessert, and drinks/alcohol. Dessert prices are good value too when you order meat.

No table fee: the side dish spread and pork kimchi jjigae

The basic spread at Pocheonjeongyuksikdang — scallion salad, pickled onion, lettuce wraps, garlic, radish salad, mountain leek, salad, and mukbap (jelly noodle salad) — comes out with no table fee.

Even the basic side dishes come out looking neat and tidy,

Pork kimchi jjigae served as a standard side

and I was thinking about ordering a kimchi jjigae for something spicy and hot, but it turns out a pork kimchi jjigae (kimchi stew) comes included as standard. We ordered two bowls of rice, and dunked one into the jjigae, haha.

Grilling 1++ hanwoo cut by cut

Along with the meat we picked, we got shiitake mushrooms, rice cake, and a chunk of beef tallow for the grill.

Well-marbled grade 1++ hanwoo pack on sale

We got lucky and found a pack on sale, so we grabbed it right away — plenty of marbling and the meat quality looked great.

Grade 1++ hanwoo grilling cut by cut

We grilled it cut by cut, and being grade 1++ hanwoo, it was so tender, it just melted in the mouth, haha.

Every cut was genuinely delicious, and since the taste and texture differ from cut to cut, it built up the anticipation, haha.

Finishing with mul-naengmyeon (cold noodle soup)

Mul-naengmyeon ordered for dessert

We ordered mul-naengmyeon (cold noodle soup) for dessert, and it cooled and cleaned up our stomachs after all that rich meat. It had been a while since I had proper hanwoo at a butcher-restaurant with my brother, and it was such a satisfying, good time! I'd recommend this Pocheon favorite, Pocheonjeongyuksikdang, for grade 1++ hanwoo at a great price with no table fee.
