My husband and I headed out around lunchtime for a hearty meal together. We were craving a proper patty, so we made our way to a well-known burger spot near Samseong Station.

An exterior with a standout terrace

Once we went farther into the alley, Bas Burger's red sign immediately caught my eye. Neat outdoor terrace seats were set up beneath the awning, blending nicely with the understated building exterior. There was parking in front of the restaurant as well as an unattended payment machine, so it looked relatively easy to visit by car. I thought it would be lovely to enjoy a burger out on the terrace on a nice day.

A stylish, comfortable interior

Inside, it had a modern feel with a distinct pub-like atmosphere. The tiled walls and red walls worked beautifully together, and the tables were spaced out so it did not feel cramped. There were all kinds of seats, from bar tables where you could comfortably eat alone to roomy spots for groups. Further inside, the self-service bar, where you could freely help yourself to potato chips, was kept very tidy.

Ordering tablets for choosing what you like

We could conveniently browse the menu and order through the tablet installed at each table. There were plenty of appealing choices, including The Bas Burger, the Sriracha Cheeseburger, and the basic Bas Burger Set. Beside the screen was a helpful note saying that beer tastings were available upon request from a staff member. Being able to sample a beer that would pair well with a handcrafted burger felt especially thoughtful.

Crispy potato chips to snack on

Self-service potato chips with pepper and sauces

These are the potato chips I picked up first from the self-service bar. I added a few shakes of pepper to the crisply fried chips, just the way I like them. Dipping them in equal parts ketchup and mayonnaise filled my mouth with a nutty, salty flavor. They were perfect for casually nibbling before the burgers arrived, and I just could not stop reaching for more.

A generously laid-out burger meal

Silver tray holding burgers, fries, and a cheese bar

Our order arrived neatly arranged on a silver tray. With golden French fries and the cheese bar we chose as a side, it looked filling just to look at. The freshly fried fries were crisp outside and fluffy inside, making them an unbeatable accompaniment throughout the meal. It was truly a substantial spread worthy of a quality burger restaurant near Samseong Station.

Hearty toppings paired with a substantial patty

Between the burger buns, thick patties, fresh lettuce, tomatoes, and melting cheese were packed in generously without any gaps. The moment I took a big bite, the rich juices filling my mouth were so impressive. When I split the cheese bar with a fork, the mozzarella inside stretched out in long strands. The savory sweet-and-spicy chili sauce cut through the richness, and my husband and I happily shared it as we finished a lovely meal.

A clean finish, with nothing left behind

Empty burger and side dishes after the meal

From the handcrafted burgers to the side of fries, we polished off every bit without feeling anything was lacking. Thanks to the balanced toppings, there was no chance for it to become too rich, and we enjoyed it deliciously through the final bite. After tasting such a well-made burger near Samseong Station, where substantial meatiness met fresh vegetables, I stayed satisfyingly full all afternoon. We left after a cheerful meal with light steps.
