Ansan Korean BBQ for a stroller-friendly family lunch: Yangsimso

After taking our child for their post-12-month vaccination, we looked for a good restaurant for a family meal out. My husband loves meat so much that we ended up finding this place! The restaurant was spacious, had private rooms, and even had all the baby tableware ready, so we were really pleased.

Because it wasn’t visible from outside, I searched hard around the building. It was next to Yogerpresso, tucked away in a corner. Look toward the side with lots of buildings rather than the road side.

Once we went inside, it was really spotless. Table spacing is important to our family since we often bring a stroller, and it was wonderfully roomy. There are private rooms too, but rather than one table per room, each has three tables, so I think they would be great for groups as well. It felt nice and private for a meal.

We made a reservation, and they set everything up in advance for our scheduled time, so we could start eating quickly. There was a nice variety of sauces for the meat, and the side dishes all paired well with it too.

I loved that the meat cooked quickly, and the aroma the moment it hit the grill was no joke. I wrapped it in onion and tried it with bibim naengmyeon (spicy mixed cold noodles); it wasn’t tough at all and chewed so tenderly.

How were the bibim naengmyeon and doenjang-jjigae?

When you order the lunch special, naengmyeon comes as part of the set. I chose the bibim version because it would be easy to wrap with the meat. The bibim naengmyeon wasn’t spicy at first, but it gradually became pleasantly spicy as I ate, which made it perfect with the beef. They also brought naengmyeon broth, vinegar, and mustard. The broth was more tangy than peppery, so it felt like it refreshed the palate.

We ordered the doenjang-jjigae (soybean paste stew) separately, and wow, this was the real kicker. It was lightly spicy and savory, packed with ingredients, and once I mixed rice into it, I finished a whole bowl in no time!!! The broth was so rich that I couldn’t not mix rice into it.

There were many kinds of meat, and the lunch specials were varied too, so it was easy to choose what you wanted. The side dishes were a great lineup too!!!

Why it was great for a family meal with a young child

They were running a review event, and instead of simply giving you a drink, they let you choose what you wanted. I chose the green grape ade, and it was neither overly tangy nor too sweet—just right for my taste.

We don’t carry baby tableware around, but they had not only tableware but bibs too!! Such amazing thoughtfulness—it surprised me, haha.

Even at the register, the thoughtfulness continued, haha. They had mouthwash, dental floss, and toothpicks!

This is the kind of place where you should go out to eat.

My husband and I were both happy with our lunch—the food was delicious and the tables were set up so well. My husband even said it had become his number-one meat restaurant in Gojan-dong, haha. We’ve often struggled because of the stroller and baby chair. The sides and banchan (Korean side dishes) were all delicious too, so I want to go again 😆
