Korean BBQ special cuts set for two near Sangil-dong Station: Geumdon

I wanted to introduce a Sangil-dong restaurant, a Sangil-dong BBQ spot: Geumdon Hwaro Sangil-dong Station Branch.

Where is Geumdon Hwaro Sangil-dong Station Branch, and where do you park?

Geumdon Hwaro Sangil-dong Station Branch is at 399 Godeok-ro, Megasquare-dong 1F #132, Gangdong-gu, Seoul, 269m from Sangil-dong Station Exit 4. Hours are Mon–Fri 16:00–23:00, Sat–Sun 13:30–23:00, last order 21:30.

Geumdon Hwaro Sangil-dong Station Branch is known as a Godeok-dong go-to, a Sangil-dong Station meat spot, and it's just 2 minutes from Exit 4, so accessibility was great haha 🚗 You can park on B2 of the Godeok Central Prugio commercial parking lot. Parking near building 102, lines 3–5 puts you closest to the restaurant.

Once you come up to the 1st floor, the restaurant is to the right of the Starbucks on the big main road.

What's on the menu at Geumdon Hwaro Sangil-dong Station Branch?

Geumdon Hwaro Sangil-dong Station Branch's signature menu includes aged fresh pork belly, aged fresh pork neck, pork jowl, pork skirt, and 1++ Hanwoo striploin. There are also various set menus, so ordering a set gets you a more reasonable price, right?!

I heard 'Geumdon Hwaro' means they carefully select pork as precious as gold ('geum') and grill it with care over the hwaro (charcoal grill) — a premium meat restaurant. The interior was clean, and even though we visited on a weekday evening, it was packed.

Steamed egg and five kinds of kimchi with every order

Steamed egg and spring cabbage kimchi are also provided — the steamed egg was so fluffy that eating it with the spring cabbage kimchi was delicious 😋

They use only premium domestic Korean pork for the best flavor, and the side dishes to go with the meat were 100% domestic kimchi in 5 varieties plus other carefully made banchan (side dishes), which paired well with the meat.

There was also a menu board with recommended flavor combos for enjoying Geumdon Hwaro, which was handy to reference while eating.

Special cuts grilled by the staff from start to finish

A staff member grilled the meat for us from start to finish, which was great because we could just focus on eating.

They cut it into big, generous pieces, so it was full of juice! ⭐Bite in and the juices burst⭐

At first, we dipped it just in salt to taste the meat's original flavor.

The aged meat in particular was rich in juice and had a nutty flavor.

The staff were all so kind, and they kept checking on the meat regularly, so we could eat comfortably 🤗

Best picks at Geumdon Hwaro: scallion kimchi and pickled onions

It's also delicious dipped in myeoljeot, but my best picks were the pickled onions and scallion kimchi! The scallion kimchi especially uses really thin scallions, so I could eat unlimited amounts of it 😋

The side dishes overall had a clean flavor that really supported the meat and made it taste even better! If you're looking for a Sangil-dong Station restaurant, a Godeok-dong restaurant, or a restaurant near IKEA Godeok, I'd strongly recommend this place ♥️
