Namyangju galbi restaurant, torch-seared with cod roe sauce: Udontan
In short
Udontan Dasan Main Branch is a galbi (marinated grilled ribs) restaurant on Dasan-jungang-ro in Namyangju, Gyeonggi, near Dasan Station. The order was two servings of donto galbi, a ttukbaegi han-don kimchi jjigae (pork kimchi stew in an earthenware pot) and finishing fried rice, and staff grilled the ribs from start to finish before hitting them with a torch for smoky flavor — the sweet-salty pairing with the cod roe sauce was the most memorable part. Even the side dishes at Udontan got wiped clean, making it a satisfying neighborhood galbi spot.

I was suddenly craving meat and went looking for a neighborhood spot near my place — and found one!

This is Udontan Dasan Main Branch, a Korean BBQ restaurant near Dasan Station with smoky-charred galbi and solid side dishes. I visited as part of a sponsored campaign, but honestly this was one of the most satisfying meals I've had out of all my campaign visits, so let me share it right away 🤤
Udontan Dasan Main Branch: exterior and interior atmosphere

From the outside, the standing signboards for udae-galbi (premium ribs) and udon-hanpan made the place easy to spot from a distance.

Stepping inside, the bold red walls paired with wood-tone tables gave off an upscale vibe! The booth-style seating was perfect for chatting away over a cozy meal.

Besides the indoor seating, there were also about two terrace seats where you could eat while catching a breeze — it looked perfect for that outdoor feel on a nice day.
What side dishes and cod roe sauce come with the meal?

We ordered two servings of donto galbi, a ttukbaegi han-don kimchi jjigae, and finishing fried rice!

As soon as we ordered, the side dishes came out generously arranged on brass small plates.

Corn salad, scallion shreds, pickled perilla leaves — I tried them one by one, and no lie, every single side dish was delicious 😭 I kept reaching back for more, and we cleared everything except the kimchi.

The seasoned eolgali-baechu (young napa cabbage) was especially spicy and refreshing, and it paired fantastically with the meat.

And one more thing! The cod roe sauce they served with it was seriously amazing.

Putting a little cod roe sauce on top of the well-cooked meat gave a sweet-and-salty combo that was insane 🤍

Oh, and I also noticed on the wall that there's an ongoing event — write a Naver receipt photo review and get free fried rice or honeycomb tripe! If you visit, be sure to take part and grab the freebie!
Donto galbi: why the torch-seared smoky flavor is the real kick

Marinated galbi is honestly tricky to grill yourself — it burns the moment you look away, right?

But at Udontan Dasan Main Branch, the staff carefully grilled the meat perfectly from start to finish, so all we had to do was eat!

Once the meat was nicely browned, they finished it off with a torch to give it that smoky char — and this was seriously the best part 🔥

The inside stayed tender and juicy, but the moment it hit my mouth, that smoky flavor spread out — total pass.

Ttukbaegi han-don kimchi jjigae and the finishing fried rice

While we were happily eating the meat, the ttukbaegi han-don kimchi jjigae came out bubbling away!

Scooping into the broth, I found generous chunks of tender han-don (Korean native pork). I'd been desperate for something spicy and red after drinking the night before, and this kimchi jjigae cured my hangover perfectly. 👍 The well-fermented kimchi and hearty tofu made it the ideal pairing with the meat.

After cleanly finishing off the pork galbi, of course the finale had to be fried rice cooked right on the grill pan!

Fried rice made on the grill where the meat was cooked — even though I was full, I couldn't stop scooping it up.

This. Is. K-dessert.

I scraped the grill pan all the way to the bottom and left completely stuffed, without leaving a single grain behind.
Is Udontan Dasan Main Branch worth a visit?

It was such a happy day discovering a real best-galbi-of-my-life spot right near my neighborhood!
