Indoor camping gathering in Mapo, Seoul with delivery tteokbokki: TAGE

I had a regular get-together with former coworkers I used to work with, for the first time in ages. The four of us all live in different places, so I asked where would be a good midpoint—and they suggested Hongdae and Sinchon.

Hongdae for us, with an average age in our forties?~ We paused to think about it, but then I remembered a place I had saved because I wanted to visit it. So off we went! It lets you enjoy a camping atmosphere right in the middle of the city, making it perfect for a different kind of camping restaurant visit. Let’s begin!

Finding the indoor camping spot near Hongik University’s main gate

This indoor camping spot, one of the things to do in Hongdae, was easy to find because it sits along the road near Hongik University’s main gate.

Even the entrance was so nicely done that I got really curious about the inside. Let’s hurry in~

Oh my~ This was the place I had found while searching, so I had seen it in photos, but in person it exceeded my expectations.

An interior that felt like nature in the city

The interior was generally quite dark, but colored and accent lighting came together for a dreamy atmosphere. Gentle nature sounds played as background music, and media art inspired by nature was added in, so it felt as though I had walked into an exhibition space expressing nature in the middle of the city. Such a strange~~ lovely feeling. A campfire video played on a huge screen and there were tents too, so I found myself zoning out at the fire on screen.

There was a microwave by the information desk, along with sauces, tableware, and a self-service side-dish station, so it was easy to use. Board games, Nintendo, and karaoke were also available for guests to enjoy freely.

Can the entrance to the restroom really look that cool? 👍 The interior had a modern steel-like look, and it was stylish as well as neatly maintained.

This was where today’s self-proclaimed quartet of beauties would sit. The owner enthusiastically recommended it as a private space.

Each seat had scissors, paper cups, tongs, and tableware, and ordering was easy through the kiosk. I recommend reading through the notices at least once.

Setting up bindaetteok and pork belly, camping-style

First up, bindaetteok (mung bean pancake) that we brought from Gwangjang Market—open~~~ As we busily got everything ready, it really did feel like we were camping.

Our order of two servings of samgyeopsal (pork belly) arrived. The slices were nicely thick and looked fresh just from their color~ They say they use only meat brought in that day,

and, speaking frankly, the quality was truly as good as at most dedicated barbecue restaurants. I fully recognize the owner’s pride in the meat. 👏🏻

You can bring your own meat, but they provide only the burner, so you need to bring a grill plate and butane gas. Lazy me just coolly ordered two servings of pork belly. If you plan to eat a ton of meat, though, bringing your own could be a good idea.

At TAGE Indoor Camping Hongdae Main Branch (티에이지실내캠핑장 홍대본점), corkage is ₩15,000—not per bottle, but per table~ One person in our crew brought tequila from home and even slid lemon slices onto the table; it really made the drinks taste proper~ Bring two or more bottles of expensive liquor from home and you’ll get your money’s worth.

We ordered only two servings, but once it was cut up, it looked even more plentiful. We helped ourselves generously to sauces and kimchi from the self-service bar.

Finishing with delivered Yeopgi Tteokbokki after the meat

We picked up the delivered Yeopgi Tteokbokki too~ At a regular barbecue restaurant, the usual combination might be pork followed by kimchi jjigae, but at this Hongdae indoor camping spot, you can have pork and then Yeopgi Tteokbokki. Finishing with spicy Yeopgi Tteokbokki after the meat was unexpectedly such a good pairing! I really want to recommend it~ You have no idea how long J had been waiting, since she doesn’t eat pork belly.

It had been three months since we last saw each other, and we had so much to say that I think we talked for ages without noticing the time~ Since we all came from the same company, we talked a lot about work. A company dinner or workshop in a place like this would be unusual and fun too. It would be especially perfect for a company near Hongdae~ After about 3 hours of playing and talking our hearts out, we didn’t even need to go somewhere else for a second round. We enjoyed ourselves properly here and wrapped up neatly~ Let’s meet again next time, definitely haha

You would normally need to take away trash from takeout or delivery food, but the venue will clear it themselves for ₩1,000 per person. Recommended.

Final thoughts on enjoying meat and delivered food together

We had our get-together at TAGE Indoor Camping Hongdae Main Branch in Hongdae, and it was a nice, different kind of gathering place because we could enjoy everything from meat to Yeopgi Tteokbokki with a camping atmosphere. It would be great not only for meeting friends, but also for company dinners or workshops~ Part 4 can be used for up to 4 hours, so there is no need to go for a second round: eat meat, then order delivery for anything else you want. It also works well like a Hongdae party room. If you want special time with friends or are looking for an unusual date spot in Hongdae, it could be worth a visit!
