Gangneung café for Ethiopia Aricha and Kenya Ungoranu drip: Coffee

In short

Coffee Dripper is a self-roasting drip coffee café tucked inside Gangneung's Chodang Sundubu Village. The writer tried the master's recommended beans, Ethiopia Aricha and Kenya Ungoranu, paired with a salted vanilla financier and sundubu (soft tofu) pudding, and both cups were rich and full-bodied, exactly to taste. With about 13 parking spots on site, it's an easy stop on a Gangmun Beach itinerary.

Coffee Dripper's strength is drip coffee made from beans they roast themselves! We ordered one cup each of the master's recommended beans, Ethiopia Aricha and Kenya Ungoranu.

Ethiopia Aricha vs Kenya Ungoranu

A cup of Kenya Ungoranu drip coffee

Ethiopia Aricha centers on a rich acacia flower aroma, with notes of honey, black tea, and raspberry milk chocolate! Kenya Ungoranu apparently features plum, blackcurrant, and hibiscus with a berry-forward profile and a round body. I like coffee that's rich and full-flavored, and both cups matched my taste perfectly! The cups were pretty too, so it was fun just to look at them while drinking, haha. After we finished the coffee, they also gave us pine needle tea to sip, which wrapped things up nicely.

The salted vanilla financier that paired perfectly with coffee

The financier we ordered for dessert was really delicious too. Nutty on the outside, moist on the inside, with the sweet aroma of vanilla and a salty edge — that sweet-and-salty combo was, as always, the best. Even my husband, who's not really into desserts, ate it up happily, haha.

Sundubu pudding, a must-eat in Gangneung

And here's the sundubu (soft tofu) dessert you must try when visiting Gangneung! Fitting for a café inside Chodang Sundubu Village, they sell desserts made with sundubu. The soft, cloud-like tofu pudding sits in a pretty cup, and the visual alone is a knockout!

Sweet syrup is served on the side, so you can drizzle it on to taste. The pudding is soft and melts gently, with a subtle, nutty tofu flavor that made it really appealing. If you're in Gangneung, this is a dessert you have to try at least once!

Close to Gangmun Beach, easy to fit into a travel route

From drip coffee brewed with house-roasted beans to sundubu pudding that captures the character of Chodang-dong, every item on the menu was memorable! The coffee is rich and aromatic, so I'd recommend it to anyone who loves drip coffee. If you're like us, looking for good drip coffee in Gangneung, stop by Coffee Dripper!
