Gangseo eel rice bowl restaurant with pollock roe: Una Magok
In short
Una Magok is a Japanese restaurant in Gangseo, Seoul, serving grilled eel and chicken mabushi rice bowls. I tried the pollock roe set hitsumabushi and tori mabushi, from the savory eel-and-roe pairing to the final ochazuke. Verdict: a satisfying choice for a special meal or dining with kids.

Una Magok location and parking

Una is inside the K Square building! The Kakao Map address is incorrect, so please use the Naver address when visiting! Parking is free for 1 hour 30 minutes; after that, it's ₩2,000 per 30 minutes, up to ₩30,000. Use the underground parking lot in the K Square building!
What about the wait and atmosphere?

If there's a wait, you can join the Catchtable queue out front!! I recommend making a Naver reservation before you go! It was so delicious that there might be a wait.

The interior is really neat and upscale, so I think it's great for treating someone to a meal!! There are private rooms too!!!
Menu and prices

The menu is divided into three kinds: tori mabushi, mero mabushi, and hitsumabushi! I had the eel hitsumabushi and chicken tori mabushi, and they were seriously the best! There is also a children's set meal, so it seems like a great place to bring kids!!
Review-event lottery

They said they'd give me a lottery ticket for writing a review, so I wrote one and got it—but it was a loser.... Sob, life is still the same.
The tori mabushi and pollock roe set hitsumabushi I ordered

- Tori Mabushi ₩29,000
- Pollock Roe Set Hitsumabushi ₩42,000
Charcoal-grilled chicken thigh tori mabushi

Apparently, the chicken thigh is brushed with a secret tare sauce simmered for 10 hours with around 30 medicinal herbs, then grilled three times over charcoal! It came with a special chicken broth, different from the eel and mero versions, and it was seriously delicious... I think I get why people come here just for this....
Three delicious ways to enjoy mabushi
- Enjoy its original flavor with the rice
- Enjoy it with scallions, perilla leaf, shredded seaweed, and wasabi
- Make it into ochazuke (rice in tea broth)
Personally, I liked the original flavor best haha.
A wide variety of side dishes

There are so many kinds of side dishes, right? Hahaha. Such a great variety comes out, and everything pairs well, which made the meal even better! Refills are available too!
The pollock roe hitsumabushi I was looking forward to

The pollock roe eel rice bowl I was most excited for, hehe. They soak the eel in their secret tare sauce, simmered for 10 hours with around 30 medicinal herbs, then grill it three times over charcoal!! How could that not be delicious....

Honestly, even just the eel and rice were delicious ㅜㅜ And the perilla leaf was good too,...

It was best with the pollock roe—the savory flavor was absolutely exploding!!!

Pour it into the bowl. Hehe, the ochazuke I had at the end!! It was just perfect as a palate cleanser..... The broth was the best. You can see I finished it all, right.... It really was that delicious.
Green tea ice cream for dessert

At the end, green tea ice cream comes out as dessert, and it had a wonderfully bitter, real green-tea flavor, so I enjoyed it so much!! I was truly so satisfied that I want to come back again next time.
