Black soybean breakfast powder for skipped mornings: Garu Seonsaeng

In short

Garu Seonsaeng Heukseon (Garuseonsaeng Seoritae Seoritae Garuseonsaeng Seoritae Seoritae) is a Korean black food seonsik, a grain breakfast powder made with 41% domestic seoritae black soybeans. After early rising left the writer hungry before lunch, one or two spoons stirred into milk instead of morning coffee kept her full until midday, and the nutty black bean and black rice flavor tasted more natural than soy milk. Garu Seonsaeng Heukseon is an easy breakfast substitute for office workers and students who usually skip the meal.

Why swap morning coffee for a breakfast powder?

What I picked as my breakfast substitute was a black bean breakfast powder called Garuseonsaeng Seoritae Seoritae. Do you all eat breakfast properly, neighbors?🤔 I used to be someone who barely ate breakfast. But lately I've been waking up early for a 'miracle morning' routine — reading the paper and all that — and moving my wake-up time earlier made me way too hungry in the mornings... haha. I don't have time for a proper breakfast, but getting by on coffee every day felt terrible for my health, so I started looking for a breakfast substitute.

A tasty breakfast substitute powder — protein shake, black bean, black sesame — Garuseonsaeng Seoritae Seoritae

This is it — the black food breakfast powder, Garuseonsaeng Seoritae Seoritae.🤗 I've tried breakfast powders before, and I remember one that didn't digest well and tasted bad, so I gave up on it... But this Garuseonsaeng Seoritae Seoritae is different! It's healthy, and it's actually tasty...!😘

What's inside Garu Seonsaeng Heukseon: 41% domestic black soybeans

The ingredients in Garuseonsaeng Seoritae Seoritae include domestic seoritae (black soybeans), domestic black rice, domestic yak-kong beans, plus black sesame, brewer's yeast, green tea, almonds, brown rice, sea salt, and more.😊 The color is the natural color of the seoritae beans themselves — you can see it, right? It has a light greenish tint. I used to hear that eating a lot of black beans is good for your hair, so I bought some to eat often, but it turns out it's hard to eat a lot of beans as-is. Making bean rice all the time got tiring too, so I chose a breakfast powder with domestic black bean powder in it instead.

Ingredient label showing 41% domestic seoritae in Seoritae powder

I really liked that Garuseonsaeng Seoritae Seoritae contains as much as 41% domestic seoritae. It also has black rice and yak-kong beans in it, so it seems like it'd be filling enough as a meal substitute, right?🤭 With so many beans in it, you can also get a protein boost, and it seems healthier than protein powder.

How does Heukseon taste in milk, and is water different?

But. First off, forget the ingredients — the most important thing is... taste, taste.🤭 Worrying about whether it would actually taste good, I mixed it into a small cup of milk and tried it.

I stirred it a few times into cold milk and it mixed in well. My impression after tasting it was... oh, this actually tastes pretty good...! It's tasty.🤗 When I had soy milk from the store for breakfast, it was too sweet and had an artificial taste I didn't love, but this one had a nutty flavor from the black beans and black rice that tasted really good. Along with the natural nutty flavor, since it's a powder there's a bit of texture to chew on too, which makes it feel filling.

If I just drink soy milk or regular milk, I get hungry again quickly, but with Garuseonsaeng Seoritae Seoritae, if you use the recommended 3 spoons, you get genuinely full. I usually put in one to two spoons and shake it up, and that feels like enough for a breakfast substitute.😊 It's also fine mixed with water. If you want a cleaner taste, go with water; if you want a nuttier taste, go with milk. I've never stuck with a breakfast powder before, but this one has a more natural taste than protein shakes, fills me up, and is so convenient that I keep reaching for it.

How filling is it every morning, and other ways to drink it

I've been mixing it into milk and drinking it every morning. If you finish off even the grain powder left at the bottom, it keeps you full all the way to lunchtime.🤭 Even for people who find protein powder too heavy, this could be great for shaking up in a shaker bottle when working out to get some plant protein in. Drinking a healthy breakfast powder instead of the coffee I used to pour into myself out of habit makes me feel proud, like I'm doing something better for my body.

Drinking Garuseonsaeng Seoritae as a breakfast substitute

I've been drinking it consistently, every day, without fail. That wraps up my review of Garuseonsaeng Seoritae Seoritae, a breakfast substitute powder that tastes healthy and is easy on the stomach, so you can eat it without worry. I hope this helps busy office workers or students who keep skipping breakfast every day.
