After a delicious eel lunch, I stopped by 5PM sunset hour, a salt bread spot in Yeongjongdo, for a post-meal coffee ☕️ The salt bread with its nutty butter aroma was the real draw, and this Yeongjongdo café had a lot of families with kids :-)

Where is 5PM sunset hour, and what about parking and hours?

5PM sunset hour is a café on the first floor of the KCC Sweetien apartment commercial building in Yeongjong Haneul City, with free parking available behind the building. Hours are Monday 07:00-18:00 and Tuesday to Sunday 07:00-19:00, with no closed days.

On the way from Jangdodam Yeongjong branch, where I had lunch, to my next stop at Yonggungsa Temple, I dropped by this Yeongjongdo café, 5PM sunset hour~ Since it's on the first floor of the KCC Sweetien apartment complex, free parking was available behind the building! To get inside the apartment complex, I called the security guard through the intercom and said I was going to the café, and he kindly opened the gate.

There were quite a lot of outdoor terrace seats, and the cute vibe looked really pretty. Oh, and since it's a café in a commercial building, it opens at 7am and closes at 6pm on Mondays, 7pm Tuesday through Sunday, so keep the timing in mind when visiting~

Inside 5PM sunset hour: a small, cozy café interior

The inside of 5PM sunset hour is a cozy, small space with just two two-person tables, while the outdoor terrace has far more seating. Since it's a café inside an apartment complex, families with kids and local residents visit often.

The inside of this Incheon Yeongjongdo café, 5PM sunset hour, was really quite small, with fewer indoor tables than outdoor terrace seats. There were only two tables that could seat two people, but the sentimental yet cozy atmosphere seemed to bring in a lot of local residents.

The gap between the tables and the counter was narrow, so even one or two more parties coming in made it feel quite crowded. And since it's a café in an apartment complex, newlywed couples with babies seemed to visit fairly often~

Right next to the entrance was a small self-service bar where you could freely grab paper cups, napkins, and straws.

Drinks menu and house-baked breads at 5PM sunset hour

Even though 5PM sunset hour is a small neighborhood café, it has a diverse coffee lineup ranging from cold brew to hand-drip, and it bakes its own bakery items in-house. But the bread doesn't come out at opening — it comes out gradually starting at 9am.

There were the usual coffee types as well as some exclusive to 5PM sunset hour, and the lineup was fairly diverse, ranging from cold brew to hand-drip~ There were also drinks and teas you could have instead of coffee, so there seemed to be plenty of options even for people who can't handle much caffeine.

The bakery focuses on salt bread, clearly aiming to be a salt bread spot in Yeongjongdo, and also had scones, financiers, egg tarts, canelés, and even butter rice cake. There were also a few kinds of store-bought donuts for anyone craving something sweet~

And even though it wasn't on the menu board or in the display case, they also sold bread meant to be a meal replacement! There was milk bread loaf, an American hot dog, a bagel sandwich, and a salt bread sandwich, which looked great for enjoying brunch too :)

Since it's Chuseok (Korean Thanksgiving) season right now, they were also selling a financier gift set at a discount. When I visited there were only two kinds of financiers on display, but apparently there are five kinds in total~

And I also spotted the once-trendy Dubai chewy cookie by the counter, along with free snacks set out for kids! Kids were actually getting their mom's permission and taking one at a time~ A generous café like this seems destined to do well haha

Hand-drip Sunset vs Moonlight, and the salt bread the next day

5PM sunset hour offers two hand-drip coffees, Sunset and Moonlight (₩6,000 each), and the heavier, cleaner-tasting Moonlight was much better than the acidic Sunset. I also took out two salt breads and a glaze donut.

Since I'd eaten way too much eel and needed to walk it off, I got everything to go! It had been a while since I ordered hand-drip coffee, and since this place is known as a salt bread spot in Yeongjongdo, I figured I should try the salt bread too, so I ordered two salt breads and a glaze donut 😆 It's not like I planned to eat them right away... I was saving them for dinner or the next day… (a little guilty about it lol)

There were two kinds of hand-drip, so I ordered one of each. The acidic Sunset hand-drip wasn't quite my style — it had a slight metallic taste — while the heavier Moonlight was way better! My sister seemed to agree, saying Moonlight was much tastier too~ Compared to Sunset, it had a cleaner taste and was a bit heavier, but it actually felt more refined.

I was still too full that evening, so I ate the salt bread the next day, and after leaving it on my desk, the nutty smell of butter lingered in the air the whole time — I was genuinely surprised 😮 I heated it in the air fryer for about a minute and it tasted just like freshly baked bread, with a rich, savory-salty flavor that suggested a lot of butter was used. It was enough my style that I'd happily recommend it as a salt bread spot in Yeongjongdo :)

I kept the glaze donut in the fridge and ate it two days after buying it, and since it had sat in the fridge a while, the glaze stuck right to the plastic wrap, so I ended up unintentionally cutting back on sugar lol Maybe because of that, it tasted less sweet than a regular glaze donut, which actually made it less heavy~

Is 5PM sunset hour worth it for butter-rich salt bread in Yeongjongdo?

5PM sunset hour is a Yeongjongdo salt bread spot where the salt bread is far more memorable than the coffee~ It was also nice that parking was available even though it's a café in an apartment commercial building, and since it opens early in the morning, it's a good option if you're looking for a Yeongjongdo café early in the day!
