Everyone, you know those days when nothing goes your way and the stress builds right up to the top of your head? 😭 I had a pile-up of upsetting, unpleasant things not long ago, and I was feeling so down. I figured I would not even be able to sleep if I went straight home, so I called up a close friend and dashed to Gangnam Station to shake it all off over a drink! 🍢🍺

While looking for somewhere to go, I found Odeng Osaek Gangnam Station Branch (오뎅오색 강남역점). Wow... the moment I walked in, the spacious, comfortable interior made my pent-up feelings feel wide open 🤍

Its biggest selling point—and such a mood-setting detail—is that every table has a proper stainless-steel odeng pot built in, so you can keep the broth warm! ♨️

When you are drinking, you often feel bad asking someone to reheat broth once it has gone cold, right? Here, you can dip your odeng (fish cakes) into the steaming hot stainless-steel pot right at the table. The atmosphere is so nice, and I could enjoy every last spoonful of broth warm 🥺✨

The pre-meal snack that arrived as soon as we sat down was tuna crackers! Salty, nutty tuna mayo on crisp crackers—this was already completely delicious 😋 And everyone, there is one seriously amazing point here! 🌟

₩2,900 happy-hour draft beer

If you visit from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, a cold draft beer is only ₩2,900! 🍻✨ Being able to drink draft beer at this price in the middle of Gangnam... My throat was parched from stress, and finishing one cold glass in a go made my mood slowly melt away 🥺👍🏻

First, we ordered the Japanese odeng moriawase (assorted set), which we would put into the stainless-steel odeng pot to soak up the broth!

It was packed with substantial, bouncy and chewy premium Japanese fish cakes in all sorts of shapes. We left them in the hot broth, then picked them out one by one; they were soaked through with the stock and warmed me right to the core! An assorted set really is the answer at an odeng bar 🍢💖

Super-spicy addictive curry flat glass noodles

I was so stressed by what had happened that day that I was really craving something spicy! So I ordered these super-spicy addictive curry flat glass noodles as if I were under a spell 🔥🧀

I strongly recommend this to anyone who loves seriously spicy food! The chewy flat glass noodles absorbed the rich, spicy curry sauce, and the moment they hit my mouth, the heat burst out—such a stress-erasing flavor 🤤🌶️ (It felt a little like an upgraded Buldak version.) It was fiercely spicy but so addictive that I kept reaching for more, and I was very satisfied! 👍🏻

Okonomiyaki

I relieved my stress with the spicy dish, but my friend cannot handle spicy food well, so we added okonomiyaki to balance things out!

It came with generous amounts of sweet-and-salty sauce, mayonnaise, and dancing katsuobushi (bonito flakes) over its nicely browned batter 🐙💜 It was fluffy and nutty, so a bite of spicy curry noodles followed by a bite of okonomiyaki made the sweet-salty-spicy combination perfect, like best friends ✨

Ppuring corn fritters

Lastly, we properly demolished the Ppuring corn fritters, which are an absolute must with beer! 🌽💛 The popping corn kernels were fried crisp and generously coated in sweet-and-salty Ppuring seasoning. Once you start scooping them up with a spoon, this is the kind of dangerously addictive bar snack that just keeps going in, haha. Even when I was full, the beer kept going down—a dangerous little thing 😋

Finishing with a peach highball

We started with cold draft beer, then happily wrapped up with one more drink: a refreshing, sweet peach highball! 🍑 It was full of sweet peach aroma, so even people who do not like the smell of alcohol could enjoy this highball! 🍹💖
