The truffle potato pancake and sous vide tenderloin suyuk I tried at Hyeondae Memil.

An unusual meal at a stylish restaurant near Namchuncheon Station.
The menu lineup was so distinctive and tempting that I had to pay a visit, haha. The food was polished across the board, and the tranquil atmosphere made for such a satisfying meal!
Hyeondae Memil, where the truffle potatoes and sous vide suyuk were nutty, clean-tasting, and absolutely delicious!
Hyeondae Memil location and visitor information
Hyeondae Memil is on the first floor at 29-1 Namchun-ro 5beon-gil, Chuncheon-si, Gangwon State, South Korea. Hours are 11:00–20:30, and there may be a wait at lunchtime or on weekends. The dedicated parking lot is small, so I recommend parking on a nearby side street or in a public parking area!

It is tucked into an alley off Namchun-ro near Namchuncheon Station, so it is easy to reach on foot~ The converted-house entrance really catches your eye!
Ordering truffle potato pancake and sous vide tenderloin suyuk
Once seated, I ordered two of the signature dishes: the truffle potato pancake and sous vide tenderloin suyuk!

After ordering, the neat, well-arranged banchan (small side dishes) arrived first, along with a nutty buckwheat aroma. The selection clearly felt designed to pair with the food.
Truffle potato pancake ₩16,600

The truffle potato pancake (₩16,600) arrived first. Special sauce was generously spooned over the beautifully browned pancake, making the plating eye-catching from the start.

Perhaps because the potato was cut into very fine matchsticks before frying, its signature crisp texture was truly outstanding!
Even with the sauce on top, the pancake stayed crisp right through the final bite. The elegant truffle fragrance and mild potato worked wonderfully together, haha.
Sous vide tenderloin suyuk ₩20,600

Next came the sous vide tenderloin suyuk (₩20,600), served on a neat round plate with thick slices of tenderloin, wasabi, salt, seasoned dried radish strips, and seasoned chili peppers all carefully arranged. Isn’t the plating so pretty?!
Because the tenderloin had been aged at a low temperature using the sous vide method, it was not dry at all. It was wonderfully tender in the mouth, with a pleasantly chewy bite too, haha.

The meat’s naturally mild flavor came through, and its surface was soft. With a little wasabi or some crunchy seasoned dried radish strips, it felt like I was filling up on protein without any richness becoming overwhelming!

Oh, and the kimchi that came as a side! It was exactly my favorite kind of kimchi. So crunchy and spicy.
A quiet, tidy atmosphere for a meal
Since the space was made from a remodeled house, it felt warm and quiet right from the entrance. The tables were generously spaced, and the calm alley view outside the windows made the entire meal comfortable~
The interior décor was clean and understated, making it well suited to anyone looking for a meal in a neat, composed setting.

Because it is such a quiet restaurant, I thought it would make a fitting Chuncheon date spot for couples!

It is close to Namchuncheon Station, so it fits perfectly into a travel itinerary. If you are visiting Chuncheon, I think it would be lovely to stop by, fill up, and continue your happy trip.
Final thoughts on the truffle potato pancake and tenderloin suyuk
Thanks to the unusual truffle potato pancake and soft tenderloin suyuk pairing, I finished the meal feeling refreshed, haha.

If you want a proper buckwheat noodle dish near Namchuncheon Station, it would also be nice to enjoy it alongside the makguksu (cold buckwheat noodles) on the menu!

If I visit again, I definitely plan to order and try the signature buckwheat noodle dishes that I missed this time!

Definitely approved as a Chuncheon buckwheat noodle specialist worth visiting when you are in town!
